Lighthouse Studios seeks an experienced Background Supervisor for their work on Rick and Morty and a top-secret 16+ series.  The role, based in Kilkenny, Ireland, runs from May to September/October 2025. Responsibilities include supervising background artists, communicating the director's vision, ensuring timely project delivery, collaborating with other departments (production, technical direction), managing retakes, and maintaining team morale.  The shows contain mature themes (language, sex, drugs, violence), so applicant discretion is advised. The role requires 3+ years of experience in background supervision within animation.

We are now on the hunt for experienced Background Supervisors to work on exciting new shows happening: Rick and Morty + a Top Secret Series (also 16+). We are looking for people who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners. The supervisors will be required from May 2025 until Sept/Oct 2025.&nbsp;
 
The roles relate to shows that have been classified 16+ and while the subject matter of the shows are presented in a fantasy or comic context, the production may contain contextually justified strong language, references to sex, drugs, horror, threat, and/or violence of a non-gratuitous nature, which some applicants may find objectionable.&nbsp; Lighthouse will always seek to reasonably accommodate those applicants with conscientious or other objections, however given the nature of both the role and subject matter, this may not always be possible. About the role
As a background Supervisor you will lead the team of Background artists

What you'll be doing

<li> Supervisor in the design, development, and delivery of backgrounds</li>
<li> Clearly communicate the Director’s vision to the Background team. This includes communicating the necessary retakes</li>
<li> Supervise the team to ensure the project delivers on the creative objective</li>
<li> Suggest and implement solutions to the team to assist them with their quota</li>
<li> Work closely with the Line Producer, Director/Assistant Director, and Production Manager to ensure the project is delivered on time</li>
<li>Work with Technical Director to insure clean delivery of background files to next department</li>
<li> Run departmental kick-off meetings, do reviews and approvals as needed.</li>
<li> Supervise background retakes from our partner and if requested, internal retakes from the assistant director / director.&nbsp;</li>
<li> Maintain a close communication with Production, keeping them updated about the status of the retakes.</li>
<li> Support and guide background artists about shots and retakes. </li>
</ul>
 
The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.
 
What we're looking for
