Bento Box is seeking an experienced Associate Director to collaborate closely with the Supervising Director in bringing the creators' vision for a 2D animated primetime series to life. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of storytelling and comedic timing, along with experience in directing series. They will be adept at juggling notes, meeting deadlines, and effectively communicating with the team. Responsibilities include serving as a liaison between Executive Producers and the animation production team, providing creative direction, reviewing storyboards and designs, participating in animatic and color edit sessions, and addressing production challenges.

They will be able to juggle notes and deadlines without breaking a sweat. They will have an excellent rapport with the whole team and be able to communicate in a positive and productive way. They will thrive in a fast-paced production and happily pivot in the face of an unexpected curveball. All of this while bringing fun-filled energy to a team of amazing and talented humans.</div></div><div class="section page-centered"><div><h3>Responsibilities:</h3><ul class="posting-requirements plain-list"><ul><li>Serve as one of the main points of contact between the Executive Producers and the animation production team, seeing through the creative vision for each script</li><li>Work closely with the Supervising Director, Art Director, and Supervisors to relay notes and direction that reflect the vision of the creators as well as the notes from the network</li><li>Attend and give feedback to Episodic Director and Design Supervisors at all hand out meetings and reviews</li><li>With the creators' vision in mind, give storyboard notes and drawovers at milestone phases throughout the schedule</li><li>Note rough and final designs submitted to ensure they fit the creators' vision, as well as fitting within the legal and standards parameters</li><li>Participate in all animatic edit sessions to support the Executive Producers, hearing their notes and seeing the storyboard/animatic through to completion</li><li>Review take 1 animation footage, call retakes, do drawovers, and provide reference as needed for retake process</li><li>Attend all color edit sessions and give feedback while keeping the creators' notes as well as the network's notes in mind</li><li>Communicate openly with the Production team to keep them aware of any hurdles that come up, especially those that might impact deadlines</li></ul></ul></div></div><div class="section page-centered"><div><h3>Qualifications:</h3><ul class="posting-requirements plain-list"><ul><li><b>3+ years of experience directing in episodic series television</b>, including directing retakes in post, preferably in primetime comedy&nbsp;</li><li>Knowledge of 2D animation and a thorough understanding of a 2D production pipeline from development to post production</li><li>Knowledge of <b>Storyboard Pro</b> and <b>Photoshop </b>a must</li><li><b>Toon Boom Harmony</b> knowledge is a plus</li><li>Comfortable working digitally on a Cintiq</li><li>Outstanding people skills; ability to guide a unique group of creative staff</li><li>Excellent organizational and project management skills</li><li>Must be able to adapt to changes easily within a highly dynamic environment</li><li>Strong attention to detail is critical</li><li>Previous supervisory and leadership experience, including demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team</li><li><b>Must be an 839 union member or willing to join</b></li></ul></ul></div></div><div class="section page-centered" data-qa="closing-description"><div><span style="font-size: small">The salary for this position is $2,852.97 per week.</span></div></div>
