<p>Reporting to the Principal Art Director you will help establish the look and feel of characters, creatures, and weapons for studio projects. You have a passion for costume design, will be a student of the anatomy of the human form, and love of the nuances that establish believable, compelling, and relatable characters. You enjoy working with artists, designers, writers, characters artists, and animators to bring characters to life for a diverse set of players around the world. The Senior Concept Artist, Characters will combine foundational art skills with an ability to use modern 2D and 3D concept development applications.</p>
<p>Responsibilities:</p>
<ul><li>Create costume designs for player and NPC characters.</li>
<li>Create weapon designs for player and NPC characters.</li>
<li>Create creature designs.</li>
<li>Create anatomy, head, hair, and associated jewelry studies for characters.</li>
<li>Research and gather necessary reference materials to guarantee a foundation of real-world principles is applied to character development process.</li>
<li>Produce supporting character, weapon, and creature art turnarounds, style sheets/material callouts that provide clarity to content creators.</li>
<li>Work with the Art and Creative Direction leadership to ensure that concept art maintains coherence with product creative goals.</li>
<li>Participate in collaborative cross discipline meetings and discussions towards team alignment for character, creature, and weapon concept art</li>
</ul><p>Qualifications:</p>
<ul><li>Minimum 7 years' experience as a concept artist in the entertainment and video game industry.</li>
<li>A portfolio that demonstrates your concept art skills.</li>

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.</div></div></div></div></div></div>

Almost 2 years ago, I was on top of the world when I first saw my offer letter from TCS. Even after loving where I worked, I wasn’t loving what I was working on. I started learning from YouTube tutorials and tried to build a game from all the free resources that I found on the internet. While looking for game developers on LinkedIn, I came across Dhiraj Magdum’s profile who was working for Sumo Digital India.  He told me about Outscal and the Full-stack Game development program that he was pursuing. It felt unreal because when I was looking for free resources online, I couldn’t find anything that would help me become a professional game developer.
