This role is for 2-3 Software Engineers to support a short-term (2-3 month) vulnerability remediation effort for a mission-critical federal system. The focus is on rapidly reducing high and critical security findings to support an accelerated ATO renewal timeline. Engineers will perform package upgrades, dependency remediation, patching, and distributed microservice updates across Java (Spring Boot), Ember.js, and OS-level components, ensuring compatibility and stability after upgrades.

<h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Description</h2>Job RequirementsWe are seeing 2-3 Software Engineers to support a focused vulnerability remediation surge effort for a mission critical federal system. This short-term 2-3 month engagement aimed at rapidly reducing high and critical security findings to support an accelerated ATO renewal timeline.This role centered on package upgrades, dependency remediation, patching, and distributed microservice updates. Engineers will work hands-on across Java (Spring Boot), Ember.js, OS-level components, and repository maintenance to implement security fixes quickly and efficiently.Responsibilities<ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Perform Java (Spring Boot) version upgrades and dependency remediation across multiple services.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Update and remediate vulnerabilities in Ember.js front-end applications.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Execute OS-level patching and package updates in coordination with DevOps and infrastructure teams.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Conduct large-scale repository maintenance, updating dependencies and pushing changes across ~100 microservice repositories.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Identify, analyze, and remediate vulnerabilities identified through security scans.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Work across distributed microservices to ensure compatibility and stability after upgrades.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Validate changes through testing and support deployment of remediated services.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Collaborate with security and DevOps teams to meet accelerated remediation targets.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Maintain documentation of changes and remediation activities for compliance tracking.</li></ul>Work ExperienceRequired Experience<ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">3+ years of professional software engineering experience.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">MUST have active or previous approved public trust clearance, preferably issued from GSA.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot) and dependency management (Maven/Gradle).</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience updating or maintaining Ember.js or similar front-end frameworks.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience working in microservices architectures.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Familiarity with vulnerability remediation processes, including dependency upgrades and patch management.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience performing package upgrades across distributed repositories.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Comfort working in execution-focused, fast-paced environments with defined deadlines.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Proficiency with Git and repository workflows (branching, pull requests, version updates).</li></ul>Preferred Experience<ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Exposure to Python or Go services.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Relational Database Service experience (preferably Postgres).</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Familiarity with Kubernetes.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience working in compliance-driven or federal environments.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Familiarity with automated vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Snyk, Veracode, Dependabot, etc.).</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience supporting ATO or security-driven remediation initiatives.</li></ul>BenefitsThis position is a 1099 contractor opportunity that is temporary and not eligible for our benefit program.
