We are building the VPS and visual maps that help develop AR experiences to “inspire people to explore the world together”.

<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Design, develop and maintain production computer vision systems that are used to improve Niantic’s AR capabilities for the delight of our users.</li>
<li>Collaborate multi-functionally with products, operations and other engineering teams to ship state-of-the art computer vision solutions to enable new AR experiences.</li>
<li>Optimize complexity and time of solutions to make the best use of current technologies in cloud and/or mobile.</li>
<li>Write high performance code, debug solutions to complex problems that span systems, prioritize tasks effectively, and efficiently to meet agreed timelines.</li>
<li>Work with Niantic’s research team to invent, evaluate and help productionise solutions to push the boundaries of what can be done today in AR.</li>
<li>Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.</li>
<li>Required in-office 2 days on Tuesday and Thursday.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Master-level qualification in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.</li>
<li>Experience writing production code in C++.</li>
<li>Solid understanding of computer vision, machine learning or similar concepts.</li>
<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including asynchronous interactions with others.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Plus If…</h3>

<li>PhD-level qualification in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability developing algorithms for image processing, computer vision or similar endeavors.</li>
<li>Experience implementing, hardening or optimizing 3d gaussian splatting, dense depth computation, multi-view reconstruction or other problems in 3D computer vision.</li>

The total compensation package for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of £87,300.00-£126,000.00 + bonus + equity + benefits.
Individual pay within this salary range is determined by work location and additional factors, including assessed job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.  Position Summary We are looking for an Animation leader who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM. Working with the Director of Animation in the studio and alongside the VFX Supervisor during projects. The Animation Supervisor is responsible for designing and creating the motion of all computer generated characters. They are responsible for ensuring that all delivered shots support the vision of the Director and VFX Supervisor whilst maintaining the quality of this group's standards. What You’ll Do <ul><li>Work closely with the clients and the VFX supervisor to explore and determine the creative and aesthetic approach to the animation and the character performance direction.</li><li>Work with Production to accurately bid and schedule work for the show.</li><li>Work with the CG Supervisor and Rigging Supervisor as to the technical setup and workflow of characters to be animated.</li><li>Direct the animation crew and guide the overall animation production to deliver the expected and desired performance.</li><li>Conduct reviews as final quality control on all animated elements prior to VFX Supervisor and Client review.</li><li>During dailies, clearly and briefly outline accomplishments and areas of issue to VFX Supervisors.</li><li>Receive and comprehend direction and criticism of VFX Supervisors.</li><li>Effectively communicate notes and direction back to artists.</li><li>Work closely with recruitment and other animation supervisors to build a strong animation team for London Studio and crew all projects effectively.</li><li>Work with the Director of Animation to ensure the professional development of all animators. Conducting performance reviews, identifying training and mentoring needs.</li><li>Where necessary work closely with HR to deal with issues relating to poor performance or matters of discipline.</li><li>Driven to build strong working relationships and work collaboratively with senior creative and production staff at London studio.</li><li>Build strong working relationships with colleagues in all ILM locations.</li><li>Keep abreast of new technologies and techniques and ensure such information is disseminated to the animation team and fellow Supervisors. </li></ul>
What We’re Looking For <ul><li>Expert knowledge of traditional animation principles, acting, film production and compositional design while demonstrating exceptional skills as an animator demonstrated by portfolio, showreel and references.</li><li>Significant proven experience in film VFX at a supervisory level and proven ability to deliver complex shots to the highest level of quality.</li><li>Good technical understanding of those areas of CG relating to character build and movement – modelling, rigging, creature TD and FX.</li><li>A keen eye for detail.</li><li>Awareness of deadlines.</li><li>An ability to give and receive criticism in a constructive manner.</li><li>Excellent presentation and communication skills.</li><li>An ability to lead and mentor more junior artists.</li><li>An understanding to engage in the creative process with a positive and supportive attitude.</li><li>Excellent organisational and project management skills </li></ul>
