You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to define and evolve a federated GraphQL architecture, driving the future of sports and betting data integration within the CBS Sports digital ecosystem.<h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Key Responsibilities</h2><h3 class="text-xl md:text-2xl font-bold mt-8 mb-3 text-gray-800">Day-to-Day Responsibilities</h3><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Build new foundational capabilities using Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) and Test‑Driven Development (TDD) to power features across CBS Sports digital properties.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Help lead the design, development, and optimization of core sports GraphQL subgraphs and services within a federated architecture.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, backlog grooming, and sprint planning.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Practice DevOps by writing comprehensive tests and deploying continuously to production with strong observability and monitoring.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Review peer designs and code, providing constructive feedback and participating in technical discussions and weekly deep‑dive sessions.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Partner with product managers to develop scalable technical solutions for data-driven features leveraging GraphQL for data integration.</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Key Projects</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Building a GraphQL API layer for seamless data access and integration across multiple services.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Designing and implementing a core data platform that powers all CBS Sports Digital products by ingesting, processing, and storing data from hundreds of sources across various transports and data stores.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Defining a distributed tracing and observability system for web services within a GraphQL ecosystem.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Containerizing core systems to reduce infrastructure management overhead and improve scalability.</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Qualifications</h2><h3 class="text-xl md:text-2xl font-bold mt-8 mb-3 text-gray-800">Required Skills & Experience</h3><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">5+ years of experience in data engineering and data system development.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong experience designing, implementing, and maintaining GraphQL schemas, optimizing query performance, and ensuring efficient data retrieval.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Hands‑on experience with:</li><li class="leading-relaxed">JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, Node.js</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Relational, NoSQL, and key‑value databases, including Aurora MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Redis</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience operating in distributed, cloud-based environments, preferably AWS, handling high‑transaction workloads.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Proficiency with modern build strategies, CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and automated integration testing.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Familiarity with GitHub, issue tracking tools such as Jira, and GitOps practices.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Proven ability to design technical solutions, provide estimates, and assess risk and feasibility.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience with Apollo GraphQL, WunderGraph, or Cosmo.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">AWS Certifications.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience building ETL pipelines using data orchestration platforms, cloud services, and modern frameworks.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Background working for an online company in digital media or content creation.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Knowledge of sports and gaming industries.</li></ul>
