Production Manager

As a core team member, the Production Manager will collaborate closely with the production team and supervisors to deliver shows according to set goals. Responsibilities include maintaining the show schedule, communicating daily and long-term goals to artists, and ensuring alignment with the overall show plan. This role acts as the primary contact between artists and management for task progress, roadblocks, deadlines, and note clarification, while also managing aspects of the project schedule to ensure successful show delivery.

<h3 class="text-xl md:text-2xl font-bold mt-8 mb-3 text-gray-800">Overview:</h3><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">As part of the core team on a show, you will work in close collaboration with others in the Production team and the Supervisors to deliver the show according to set goals.</p><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">You are responsible for maintaining the show schedule and clearly communicating to artists their daily, weekly and longer term goals and to ensure that these schedules are in line with the overarching plan for the show, as set by the Producer and the VFX Supervisor. You will act as the accountable contact point between artists and show management on task progress, roadblocks, deadlines, and notes clarification/communication, and may be tasked with ownership of aspects of the project schedule, working towards successfully delivering a show and will always act in the best interest of the company.</p><h3 class="text-xl md:text-2xl font-bold mt-8 mb-3 text-gray-800">Job Responsibilities</h3><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Under the supervision of the Producer, responsible for the day-to-day VFX floor management and task scheduling using ShotGrid, ensuring statuses, task assignments, notes & critical information is kept up to date each day and that this information is being communicated to the floor including daily priorities.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Responsible for the outsource process, including: material collection, package submission, bid comparisons, bid and task tracking, and, under the direction of the Producer, bid award and invoice conveyance to accounting.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Responsible for scheduling and running dailies with the VFX Supervisor.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">For Dailies, KOs, and ad hoc meetings, oversees playlist creation, accurate recording & communication of notes, annotations, and reference materials.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Work closely with the Producer and VFX Supervisor to ensure deadlines are met and within budget.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Anticipate and communicate issues to Producer, VFX Supervisor, CG/Comp/IO Supervisors to resolve problems quickly.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Oversee the execution of client deliveries of all temps and finals.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Coordinate and package shot deliveries including submission documentation.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Assist in the management of the show calendar and schedule meetings and reviews as applicable.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Work with department supervisors and leads to ensure balanced workloads, identifying and escalating bottlenecks and work shortages to management.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Facilitate communication from the floor to the management team and Client when appropriate.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Work closely with Editorial to ensure materials are coming/going on the expected timelines and QC the accuracy of the information going to the client.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Act as the liaison between the floor and IT for technical and license issues.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Assist in the training and mentoring of junior production team members.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Oversees task delegation to Production Coordinators and Production Assistants where available and applicable.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Other ad hoc duties as may reasonably be expected</li></ul><h3 class="text-xl md:text-2xl font-bold mt-8 mb-3 text-gray-800">Qualifications and Essential Skills</h3><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">A minimum of 4 years of experience within the VFX or film production industry</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Highly motivated and works well with a cross functional and cross department team of artists, coordinators, producers and VFX supervisors.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Attention to detail is a MUST.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Proven production and time management experience with the ability to problem solve effectively in a fast paced environment.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Understanding of visual effects techniques, terminologies and processes.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Proficient in various functions of ShotGrid and methods of tracking and displaying data, including building pages, filters and organizing data.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong knowledge of MS Office package (including Word, Excel) as well as Google Suite including Sheets.</li></ul><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">Due to funding requirements, candidates must reside in Quebec and be legally eligible to work in Canada.</p><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">We thank all applicants for their interest in Zero VFX, however only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.</p><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">Must be legally entitled to work in Canada as specified and, where applicable, must have a valid work permit that allows the candidate to fulfill the requirements of the role.</p><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">Zero VFX is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing employment in accordance with the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.
