As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will lead the roadmap and work on the proprietary game backend using Java. You will also implement features, improve system stability, and collaborate on system design and technical strategy. Furthermore, you will manage a team of backend engineers and provide mentorship and feedback to promote their professional growth, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan and execute features. In addition, you will support hiring efforts and maintain knowledge about industry trends.

You’ll help guide the team’s technical direction, support their growth, and ensure we continue to build robust and scalable backend services.&nbsp;You will join a cross-functional and dynamic team of developers and collaborate closely with product, design, and frontend teams to create services that enhance the online experience for our players.We are an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity, welcome applications from candidates from all walks of life, and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all Bears. &nbsp;&nbsp;Your responsibilities will include: &nbsp;<ul><li>Leading the roadmap for and working on our proprietary game backend using Java</li><li>Executing and implementing features for the product as well as to empower the team</li><li>Improving system stability by following and encouraging best practices like test-driven development</li><li>Leading and collaborating on system design and technical strategy</li><li>Managing a team of backend engineers, ensuring delivery of high-quality, maintainable code</li><li>Providing regular feedback, coaching, and mentorship to help your team grow professionally</li><li>Conducting and participating in peer code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement</li><li>Collaborating with cross-functional teams to scope, plan, and execute features</li><li>Supporting hiring efforts and helping to grow the backend team</li><li>Maintaining and sharing knowledge within the Engineering team about industry trends, tools, and technologies—especially related to backend systems</li></ul>As a successful candidate, you would have: &nbsp;<ul><li>Shipped multiple features and projects in a live environment</li><li>A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related is strongly preferred</li><li>7+ years of development experience, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or management role</li><li>The ability to lead and support a team through complex technical challenges</li><li>Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to guide technical conversations and decisions</li><li>A high sense of quality and polish, and pride in the work you deliver</li><li>Experience leading backend development efforts in live production environments</li><li>The ability to accurately time estimate and plan technical work, and support the team in doing the same</li></ul>Experience or understanding of the following technologies is helpful to the position;&nbsp;<ul><li>Java 11/17, Spring Boot 2/3</li><li>Unix / Linux shell environments</li><li>Microservices – Tracing / Service Discovery / Inter-Service Messaging / Monitoring</li><li>Performant and scalable data – NoSQL / In-memory datastores</li><li>Containers – Docker / Kubernetes</li><li>Integration and stress testing, especially in live game environments</li><li>CI/CD – Gradle / Ansible / GitHub Actions</li><li>Monitoring – Prometheus / Grafana / ELK</li><li>Cloud infrastructure – AWS and/or Google Cloud</li><li>Developing high volume and performance-critical services</li><li>Experience with game engines – Unity / C#</li><li>Exposure to blockchain technologies and services</li></ul>&nbsp;If you want to be part of a team that's committed to transparency and openness, then Bear Force One is the place for you!&nbsp;We are always on the lookout for interesting people - even if your profile doesn’t meet the requirements fully, we'd love to hear from you!&nbsp;&nbsp;Whether you’re new to the industry or have several years of experience, here are some pointers on things we look for at Bear Force One:<a href="http://bit.ly/MBG-HowToLandYourDreamGamesJob"> http://bit.ly/MBG-HowToLandYourDreamGamesJob</a> and when you’re ready, just click to apply! &nbsp;
