Senior Software Engineer

PeopleFun is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop new casual mobile titles. The role involves prototyping, production, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include developing prototypes, implementing core gameplay systems, and optimizing for performance. The engineer will also contribute to technical decision-making and adapt to an agile development environment. This role requires working on various mobile platforms and responding to player feedback and telemetry. The job requires a strong understanding of game architecture and the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job SummaryPeopleFun is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in developing new casual mobile titles from prototyping to production. You will collaborate closely within your cross-functional team to help move titles through early-stage prototyping and into full production and release. You will bring your expertise and passion for solid engineering 
 Responsibilities<ul><li>Develop rapid prototypes from rudimentary game pitches to test hypotheses, validate ideas, and deliver on gameplay concepts.</li><li>Collaborate closely with other disciplines to help achieve the project’s goals, including artists, designers, other engineers, user research, and data analysts.</li><li>Implement core gameplay systems, tools, and pipelines to a quality befitting their requirements.</li><li>Respond and iterate quickly based on player feedback, telemetry results, and design pivots.</li><li>Contribute to technical decision-making and shape opinions on which technology to carry forward or adapt for production.</li><li>Transition from pre-production into full production, adapting your development practices as needed.</li><li>Optimize for performance and memory usage across a wide range of mobile platforms (as the game shifts to production).</li><li>Work within an agile development environment, adapting to evolving requirements and priorities.</li></ul><div> </div> Requirements<ul><li>7+ years of professional engineering experience within the gaming industry.</li><li>Demonstrated proficiency with Unity and casual mobile game development.</li><li>Solid understanding of game architecture, design patterns, and best practices for mobile platforms.</li><li>Prior experience collaborating cross-functionally, effectively communicating with designers, artists, UX/UI designers, product managers, data analysts, and technical leadership.</li><li>Proven ability to navigate complex technical challenges.</li><li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li></ul> Preferred Qualities<ul><li>5+ years of Unity development experience, especially for mobile games.</li><li>Experience in rapid prototyping and iterative development processes, and taking products from prototype to production.</li><li>Passion for games, and a deep understanding of what resonates with players in the casual mobile genre.</li><li>Experience with multiplayer and/or social features in casual mobile games.</li><li>An intuitive feel for the juice &amp; polish that make the biggest difference.</li></ul> 
PeopleFun provides a competitive total compensation package with a pay-for-performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this [CA-based or North America-based] position is $120,000–$165,000. Compensation is based on factors including market location and individual qualifications. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on bonuses, and other compensation may be included as part of the total package.
