As a Senior DevOps Engineer on the Payments team at Polygon Labs, you will design and build a secure, scalable, and cloud-native foundation for a new payments platform. You will own infrastructure decisions, implement infrastructure as code using Terraform, and partner with application engineers to support CI/CD, observability, and runtime operations. This role involves applying security-first principles and automating processes to ensure a reliable, secure, and production-ready platform at scale, bringing the vision of on-chain money to life.

<h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Your Role</h2><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">As a Senior DevOps Engineer on the Payments team, you will play a critical role in designing and building a secure, scalable, and cloud-native foundation for Polygon Labs’ new payments platform. Reporting to the Head of Payments Engineering, you will help bring our vision of on-chain money and the Open Money Stack to life by owning infrastructure decisions from day one.</p><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">This is a rare opportunity to build greenfield infrastructure for a highly visible platform at the intersection of finance and decentralized technology. You will join a fast-moving, remote-first team that values collaboration, automation, and thoughtful engineering, working closely with application engineers to ensure the payments platform is reliable, secure, and production-ready at scale.</p><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Your Responsibilities</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure powering Polygon Labs’ payments platform, with an initial focus on Google Cloud Platform.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, emphasizing modularity, reusability, and long-term scalability.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Partner closely with payments application engineers to define infrastructure requirements and support CI/CD pipelines, observability, and runtime operations.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Apply security-first principles across networking, compute, and deployment workflows to ensure high availability, integrity, and performance.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Automate deployment and operational processes to improve reliability and developer experience.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Establish and evolve infrastructure best practices aligned with site reliability engineering principles.</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">What You’ll Need</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">6 or more years of experience building and operating cloud-native infrastructure in production environments.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, container orchestration, and CI/CD systems, including Terraform and Kubernetes.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Professional experience operating workloads on Google Cloud Platform or another major cloud provider such as AWS or Azure.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Demonstrated ability to design secure, highly available systems and apply site reliability engineering best practices.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience working in fast-paced, product-focused engineering teams with a strong bias toward automation.</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience supporting production systems that handle financial or other sensitive data.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Familiarity with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Google Cloud certifications, such as Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Cloud Architect.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Exposure to blockchain infrastructure or decentralized finance systems.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working across functions and disciplines.</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Polygon Labs Perks</h2><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">The goal of the Polygon Labs total rewards program is to support the health and well-being of you and your family.
