Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager

Self Financial is seeking a Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager to perform corporate accounting functions. Reporting to the VP of Accounting, this role focuses on assessing new or complex accounting issues, implementing new accounting pronouncements, and conducting ad hoc technical accounting research. The manager will also prepare internal and external financial statements with detailed disclosures, collaborating across departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting and assist with various financial projects.

Reporting to the VP of Accounting, this role will be primarily responsible for assessment of new or complex accounting issues arising from both business transactions and the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, as well as ad hoc technical accounting research. This role will also prepare the company's internal and external financial statements including detailed disclosures. The individual selected for this position will interact with all levels of management and staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting and assist with multiple financial projects and initiatives.</p><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Responsibilities:</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Prepare and review periodic internal and external financial statements and related footnotes ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Research and document technical accounting matters including overseeing the implementation of new accounting standards, and determining proper accounting treatment for new products, contracts and complex transactions</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Remain current on industry trends, accounting principles, and regulations to ensure compliance</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure adherence to audit requirements and ensure efficienct, timely and accurate completion of audits and reviews</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Provide technical guidance to the accounting team and the business on complex accounting issues</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Manage revenue recognition, equity and CECL as the subject matter expert</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Collaborate cross functionally with Legal, FP&A, Strategy, Engineering and other departments as needed to ensure clear alignment on financial policy</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Complete detailed disclosure checklists to ensure all requirements are met</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Assist in maintenance of internal controls including supporting various departments within the company to ensure compliance and process efficiencies through certifications, walkthroughs and limited testing.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Assist in various ongoing and ad-hoc projects or initiatives as needed</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Required Skills and Expertise:</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Certified Public Accountant</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance related field</li><li class="leading-relaxed">6+ years of relevant work experience of which 3+ years should be in technical accounting roles</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and SEC regulations</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong communication, documentation and presentation skills</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Highly driven and self-motivated to work as required, with a hands-on approach to ensure the deliverables are produced on time with high quality</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong project and time management skills</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Demonstrated analytical and research skills</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Nice to haves:</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience with the following software products: Workiva, AuditBoard, Netsuite, Carta, Floqast</li><li class="leading-relaxed">SEC filings - 10K, 10Q, XBRL tagging, S-1</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Auditing experience</li><li class="leading-relaxed">SOX documentation experience</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Benefits and Perks:</h2><p class="my-4 text-gray-700 leading-relaxed">We have the compensation and benefits you expect.
