As a character designer, you will imagine and illustrate characters and/or props for animation projects in 2D, VFX, or print. Your creations can be cartoonish or realistic, minimalist or detailed, portraying humans, animals, or aliens. The goal is to make them striking, endearing, hateful, beautiful, or ugly, but always unique. Responsibilities include designing characters in various animated styles with a preference for cartooning, setting up detailed reference materials with material and color references, interpreting color scripts, enriching the artistic vision of a project, executing corrections, collaborating with the modeling department for 3D translation, organizing work, preparing presentation elements, and providing progress reports.

<h1>CHARACTER DESIGNER</h1><h2>Studio 3D</h2><p>As a character designer, you imagine and illustrate the characters and/or props for our animation in our 2D, vfx or print projects by making them cartoonish or realistic and in a minimalist or detailed manner. These often portray humans, but sometimes animals or even aliens... In either case, you make them striking, endearing, hateful, beautiful or ugly, but always unique.</p><h3><strong>YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></h3><ul><li>Design characters in a variety of animated styles, with a inclination for cartooning;</li><li>Set up detailed reference materials, with material and color references;</li><li>Interpret a color script;</li><li>Enrich the artistic vision of a project;</li><li>Execute corrections requested by supervisors and/or director employing analytical skills;</li><li>Work with the modeling department to ensure that designs translate into 3D;</li><li>Organize work and prepare presentation elements for validations;</li><li>Provide supervisors and producers with progress reports on an "as needed" basis.</li></ul><h3><strong>WE'D LIKE TO MEET YOU IF YOU HAVE:</strong></h3><ul><li>A degree or practice in art, drawing;</li><li>A degree in a 3D animation program (asset);</li><li>Experience in character design;&nbsp;</li><li>Experience in film, advertising, TV (asset);</li><li>Experience in cartoon style projects (asset);</li><li>An excellent artistic eye for anatomy, shapes and proportions;</li><li>Knowledge of 3D animation techniques (asset);</li><li>Knowledge of Shotgrid (asset);</li><li>a level of ease with the Windows environment (asset).</li></ul><h3><strong>YOUR WORK&nbsp;TOOLS:</strong></h3><ul><li>Photoshop&nbsp;</li></ul><h3><strong>ENVIRONMENT, VALUES AND WORKING CONDITIONS</strong></h3><p>We believe in a healthy work environment where commitment, mutual aid and direct communication between artists are valued.
