SoundCloud is seeking a People Operations & Payroll Manager for its EU operations, based in Berlin. This role involves managing the full employee lifecycle, from contract creation to offboarding, and overseeing payroll for approximately 260 employees in Germany and the UK. The manager will handle employee requests, process payments and deductions, ensure tax compliance, manage absences, analyze payroll data, and work with external vendors. The position requires 3-5 years of HR and payroll experience, strong organizational skills, and a customer service mindset.

They will work closely with the team on providing HR and Payroll support to our employees from the Berlin and London offices.<h3 class="text-xl md:text-2xl font-bold mt-8 mb-3 text-gray-800">Your mission</h3><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Steward SoundClouders through their entire employee lifecycle: from initial contract creation to onboarding, internal moves, offboarding, and beyond.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">You will work closely with Workday - our system of record - to prepare and process payroll for approximately 260 employees in Germany and UK</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Using a People support ticketing system to address employee requests and payroll inquiries, you will execute on existing processes while also constantly assessing areas of improvement (we know they’re there!).</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Process all payments and deductions accurately and on time.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Reconcile all tax and social security deductions and ensure they are filed and paid correctly and on time.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Prepare variable data for submission using the agreed templates and ensure accuracy.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Manage absences such as sabbaticals, long-term illnesses, maternity/adoption/paternity.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Processing vacation balances for departing employees.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Managing and analyzing our payroll data to ensure accuracy and provide important information to other teams in the company (e.g., finance).</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Identify and drive automation opportunities for the various People Team processes and tools.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Work with and manage external vendors such as our benefit and pension providers.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Run various reports using our HRIS to better inform decisions made by our execs and people managers.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Maintain employee files and ensure compliance with various regulations.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Handle sensitive employee relation issues and sensitive data issues requiring discretion and good judgment.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Managing detailed payroll checklists and preparing for manager review upon submission, prior to approval, at month-end, and quarter-end.</li></ul><h3 class="text-xl md:text-2xl font-bold mt-8 mb-3 text-gray-800">About You</h3><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">You have 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources and Payroll administration, ideally within a fast paced and international working environment.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">You have proficient knowledge in Labor law and Social Security law.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">You have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to ensure the accuracy of highly detailed information.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">You are people-oriented and have a customer service mindset and an empathetic approach to solving problems.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">You have experience with payroll systems such as ADP and HRIS systems such as Workday.
