SoundCloud is forming a new Reporting & Insights Team and seeking a Senior Backend Engineer. This role focuses on building and maintaining systems that handle the revenue side of subscriptions and purchases across iOS, Android, and web platforms. The engineer will work closely with Backend, Accounting, and Finance teams to provide technical expertise for revenue-related financial systems. This involves building a new system for secure data flow for revenue tracking and reporting to directly impact financial reporting capabilities and improve revenue management processes.

Soundcloud’s subscriptions systems connected to various payment processors and subscription management platforms such as Apple, Google, Adyen, and Recurly. This role will focus specifically on building and maintaining systems that handle the revenue side of subscriptions and all purchases across iOS, Android, and web platforms. There will be a strong emphasis on revenue reporting, revenue recognition, and financial integrations related to income streams. You will work closely with Backend, Accounting and Finance teams to provide dedicated technical expertise for revenue-related financial systems and integrations. You will be building a new system that ensures seamless and secure data flow for revenue tracking and reporting. &nbsp;This is an opportunity to directly impact our financial reporting capabilities and contribute to the efficiency of our revenue management processes.</div> Key Responsibilities: <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Design, develop, and implement the backend infrastructure necessary to integrate with our payments processors,&nbsp; revenue systems and data pipelines</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Work closely with the Accounting and Finance teams to understand their requirements and ensure technical alignment with financial reporting needs</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Develop and maintain data transformation and validation processes to ensure accurate and consistent revenue data transfer between vendors, our internal systems and our ERP systems</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Build and manage APIs and webhooks to facilitate data exchange between our payment processors and our existing systems</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Refine and optimize existing data pipelines to accommodate the integration of vendors and enhance overall revenue data processing efficiency. Work with the Data/Insights team to ensure revenue data is properly reflected in overall data stores</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Identify and resolve complex issues in data flow and system integration to ensure data integrity</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Develop and implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the ongoing stability and reliability of the revenue reporting system.</li> </ul> Experience and Background: <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Proven experience in designing and implementing complex backend systems</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Being responsible for the systems you build, from planning and implementation to monitoring and improvement</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Understanding of revenue recognition principles and processes, and experience working with revenue management systems</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Strong proficiency in building and integrating REST APIs and webhooks</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience in integrating third-party systems and managing data transformations</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience in working with big data and databases like BigQuery to help compile and visualize reporting data</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, K8s) and their application in scalable data systems</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Ability to understand and work with financial data and collaborate with non-technical finance teams</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience with monitoring and alerting systems, with a commitment to ensuring data accuracy and system stability</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and ensure high availability and reliability of critical revenue systems.</li> </ul> The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, and location.
