Job Summary
NXP's Advanced Power Systems (APS) product line is seeking an application engineer to work on leading-edge power management devices for consumer and industrial applications. This role involves evaluating power management devices, writing application notes, and providing technical support to FAEs and customers. The engineer will understand customer technical problems and provide solutions, working closely with product definers, design, and business management. Key responsibilities include hands-on circuit testing, troubleshooting, and applying strong analog electronics knowledge to develop and optimize power management solutions.
Must Have
- Understand principal power architectures (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost).
- Evaluate power management devices for handheld applications.
- Write application notes and provide technical support.
- Characterize analog circuits using measurement tools.
- Possess strong analog electronics knowledge.
- Perform hands-on circuit testing and troubleshooting in lab.
- Have basic microcontroller experience and C coding skills.
- Collaborate with product definers, design, and customers.
- Provide technical support to key customers and field engineers.
Good to Have
- Basic understanding of battery management principles.
- Prior experience in PMIC for IoT/Industrial applications.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in electronic engineering.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.

NXP's Advanced Power Systems (APS) product line is seeking an application engineer with expertise in power management applications. As an application engineer for the APS product line at NXP, you will be working on the fast paced, and leading edge for power management devices for the latest in consumer and industrial applications. You will be a major influence in the development, evaluation, and support of low-power management in consumer, wearable, and industrial products. We are looking for a candidate that can understand the technical problems customers face and provide technical solutions to resolve those issues.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Good understanding of principal power architectures such as Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, and related process and package technology, trade-off between system/design constrains, power/thermal analysis
- Responsible for evaluating power management devices in handheld power applications, writing application notes, and giving technical support to FAEs and customers.
- Understand basic knowledge of measurement tools and method for analog circuit characterization, Efficiency, Gain-phase stability, transient response etc.
- Strong analog electronics knowledge and school experience
- Hands-on experience on circuit testing and trouble shooting in lab environment.
- Basic Microcontroller experience, understanding microcontroller architectures, state machines and basic C coding skillset.
- Battery management, basic understanding of battery charging/discharging and basic principles considered as a plus
- Work closely with product definers, design, business management, and customers throughout the product evaluation and optimization
- Provide technical support to key customers and field engineers
- Write application notes, user guides, articles, design ideas, datasheet manuscripts for internal/external publication Research competitive solutions and devise better ones
- Support new product development and key customers. Participate in board-level design reviews with internal engineering team and prepare evaluation kits.
- Good communication skills, able to explain system concepts and detailed technical requirements (writing and/or verbally) to internal teams and customers.
- Self-motivated, creative and results-oriented.
- Prior experience in PMIC, preferred for IoT/Industrial applications.
- Bachelor degree or higher degree in electronic engineering or related discipline with 1 to 3 years of work experience as a plus.
