Must Have

Requirements and responsibilities
Ratings Data Services team is seeking a strong hands-on Senior Big data Developer/Engineer will work along in a small team of developers focused on managing and growing the enterprise big data platform. Candidate should have experience with all phases of software development cycle, including operations. Candidate must be a quick learner who is highly motivated and willing to tackle new technologies while being able to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently. Candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks and should be able to communicate effectively. This is a hands-on position requiring strong analytical, architecture and development skills.

- Work closely with technology partners on feature definition, business case development, and overall direction of the enterprise data services platform.
- Ensure platform is operating efficiently and effectively
- Oversee and lead software development efforts
- Provide guidance on routine to highly complex problems to team members

What you’ll bring
We’re looking for an experienced big data developer who can be part of a distributed team and efficiently managing the existing integrated data platform capabilities, while simultaneously enabling innovation and growth by introducing new capabilities - someone with passion for what they do and a vision for the future.
- Hands on development experience of 7+ years in Databricks platform and writing Apache/PySpark jobs using Python and Scala. Must possess working experience in Kafka, Hive, AWS and Azure platforms.
- Design and development of applications for Advanced analytical, data innovation systems.
- Participate in multiple software development processes including Coding, Testing, De-bugging & Documentation.
- Develop software applications based on clear business specifications.
- Work on new initiatives and support existing Ratings applications.
- Perform Application & System Performance tuning and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Integrate in-house applications with various vendor software platforms.
- Setup development environment / sandbox for application development.
- Check-in application code changes into the source repository.
- Perform unit testing of application code and fix errors.
- Effectively interact with customers, business users and IT staff.
- Participate in internal/cross-team meetings, project scoping, functional reviews, and technical reviews for assigned projects in an Agile environment.
- Garbage collection friendly programming experience - tuning Java garbage collection & performance is a must.
- Excellent communication skills are essential, with strong verbal and written proficiency.
