Job Summary

As a BIOS/UEFI Firmware Engineer at Capgemini Engineering, you will design, develop, and maintain platform firmware for x86-based systems. Your responsibilities include working on BIOS/UEFI architecture, Coreboot/LinuxBoot development, and bootloader customization to enable new hardware features and optimize system boot flows. You will collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance with industry standards, performing platform bring-up and debugging complex firmware issues.

Must Have

  • Design, develop, and maintain platform firmware for x86-based systems.
  • Work on BIOS/UEFI architecture, Coreboot/LinuxBoot development, and bootloader customization.
  • Develop and maintain BIOS/UEFI firmware for Intel and AMD platforms.
  • Customize UEFI boot flow, storage protocols (AHCI, SATA, NVMe), and platform initialization.
  • Work on Coreboot/LinuxBoot, including FSP integration, memory map configuration, and payload handoff to OS bootloader.
  • Perform platform bring-up, GPIO/PCIe lane configuration, and board-level firmware validation.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex firmware issues using advanced tools.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming, debugging, and version control (Git/Gerrit).
  • Expertise in BIOS code bases (AMI, Insyde, Phoenix) and UEFI boot flow.
  • Experience with BIOS/UEFI firmware development and frameworks (EDK I/II).
  • Understanding of x86 architecture (Intel/AMD) and PC standards: PCIe, ACPI, JEDEC, USB, ATA, NVMe, IPMI, Redfish.
  • Familiarity with Intel PI SPEC and RAS features.

Good to Have

  • Knowledge of Coreboot/LinuxBoot, boot stages, UPDs, FSP, device tree, and payloads.
  • Experience with open-source Coreboot projects, board porting, GPIO, PCIe lane configuration.
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in multicultural environments.

Your Role

You will collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain BIOS/UEFI firmware for Intel and AMD platforms.
  • Customize UEFI boot flow, storage protocols (AHCI, SATA, NVMe), and platform initialization.
  • Work on Coreboot/LinuxBoot, including FSP integration, memory map configuration, and payload handoff to OS bootloader.

Your Profile

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 4–12+ years of experience in embedded software development.

Primary Skills

  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming, debugging, and version control (Git/Gerrit).
  • Expertise in BIOS code bases (AMI, Insyde, Phoenix) and UEFI boot flow.
