Job Summary

Kforce is seeking a Controller in Chevy Chase, MD. This role involves managing daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, payroll, and reconciliations. The Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain internal controls, supervise the accounting team, and support budgeting and strategic planning. The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with accounting software.

Must Have

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, general ledger, payroll, reconciliations)
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses for management and external stakeholders
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team
  • Partner with finance leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Coordinate audits and work with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred

  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills required

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
