Job Summary

The Cyber Defense Analyst (Wed - Sun shift) position is responsible for performing triage of security events escalated to the team. You will monitor and analyze security events, follow established processes, identify improvements, identify potential threats, utilize AI tools, and provide immediate response and escalation when necessary. This role is the front line of defense in safeguarding information systems and data from cyber threats.

Must Have

  • Continuously monitor and respond to security events escalated through the Security Information and Event Management System (SIEM).
  • Perform initial triage and classification of security incidents.
  • Perform analysis of security events involving data collected from the network, host systems, and application log data.
  • Maintain and document detailed records of security incidents within the Incident Management System.
  • Interface with CME Group employees reporting security issues.
  • Support and contribute to the development of new detections and documentation.
  • Actively explore and leverage AI capabilities to enhance security event monitoring and threat detection.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • High level critical thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with foundational AI concepts and development processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Python, Rust, Java, or related language.
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence or related work experience.
  • CompTIA Network/Security/Cyber + certification.
  • Proven, demonstrable experience or skills in cybersecurity via CTF, hacking platforms or home Labs.

Cyber Defense Analyst (Wed - Sun shift)

The Cyber Defense Analyst (Wed - Sun shift) position is responsible for performing triage of security events that are escalated to the team. You will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing security events, following established processes and procedures, identifying improvements, identifying potential threats, Utilising AI Tools and providing immediate response and escalation when necessary. This position is the front line of defense in safeguarding our information systems and data from cyber threats.

Position Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor and respond to security events escalated through the Security Information and Event Management System (SIEM).
  • Perform initial triage and classification of security incidents, escalating high-priority incidents to senior analysts or the incident response team.
  • Perform analysis of security events involving data collected from the network, host systems, and application log data.
  • Maintain and document detailed records of security incidents, actions taken, and lessons learned for future reference within the Incident Management System.
  • Interface with CME Group employees that are reporting security issues through established communication channels.
  • Support and contribute to the development of new detections and documentation to enhance security posture of CME.
  • Actively explore and leverage AI capabilities to enhance security event monitoring and threat detection.
  • Continuous Learning - Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices.

Formal Education & Certifications

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence or related work experience.
  • CompTIA Network/Security/Cyber +.
