Cybersecurity Analyst Intern

Barracuda is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern to join their Security Operations Center Team. The intern will support the Barracuda XDR SOC Blue Team with daily tasks, including triaging security events, facilitating customer inquiries, managing processes, researching and developing SOC advancements. This role involves monitoring networks for security events, assisting with Endpoint Protection, Vulnerability Scanning, and Email Protection solutions, contributing to the SOC Emerging Threats program, and engaging in proactive security efforts like threat hunting and malware research. The intern will work with a skilled global SOC team to address security matters across Barracuda XDR customer base.

Must Have

• Monitor networks for security events and incidents
• Facilitate Endpoint Protection, Vulnerability Scanning, Email Protection tasks

We are seeking a driven, eager to learn to join our Security Operations Center Team. As a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern, you will help support the Barracuda XDR SOC Blue Team with daily tasks focusing on service delivery and SOC efficiency. This includes triaging security events, facilitating customer inquiries, managing processes and runbooks, researching and developing SOC advancements, and more. The Cybersecurity Analyst Intern works among a skilled global SOC team to address security matters across Barracuda XDR customer base. We want someone who is a self-starter, passionate about technology, and excited to learn something new.

What you'll be working on:

• Assist with daily operation of monitoring networks for security events/incidents to detect active threats, intrusions, and/or compromises, within our SIEM, SOAR, and TIP resources.
• Facilitate operational tasks related to Endpoint Protection, Vulnerability Scanning, and Email Protection solutions.
• Support general inquiries/requests relevant to security concerns and recommendations.
• Contribute to the SOC Emerging Threats program. This involves understanding the ever-changing global threat landscape and tracking changes in this area, as well as understanding the direct or indirect impact to the customer base by publishing threat advisories on a regular basis.
• Engage in proactive security efforts by conducting threat hunting, attack and defend exercises, threat (malware, vulnerability) research, etc.
• Help drive SOC efficiency by optimizing our knowledge base and associated processes.

What you bring to the role:

• Currently enrolled in a Cybersecurity degree program, bootcamp, or other related learning.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Passion and interest in the Cybersecurity field and eagerness to learn and advance security operations.
• Familiar with incident response and analysis of attack vectors such as:
• Ransomware
• Business Email Compromise
• Phishing
• Botnet
• DDoS
• SQL Injection
• Supply Chain Attacks
• Familiar with common SOC tools such as:
• SIEM
• SOAR
• Other Log/Packet Analysis applications
• EDR
• Email Security
• Threat Intelligence
• Vulnerability Scanner
• Sandbox Environments

The anticipated on-target earnings range for this role is $23 - $33 per hour. Actual compensation offered will be dependent upon the individual's education level, job type, and applicable employment laws.
