Job Summary

The Digital Content Editor, part of Macmillan Education's Publishing Content Development team, develops and delivers high-quality digital content for international English Language Teaching (ELT) courses. This includes digital student's books, workbooks, presentation tools, practice apps, and assessment components. The role ensures content meets pedagogical requirements, supports project scoping, briefs suppliers, maintains quality standards, and applies consistent metadata, working closely with cross-functional teams and external contributors.

Must Have

About the Role

Working within the Publishing Content Development team, the Digital Content Editor is part of a digital content team developing high quality digital content for students and teachers learning English internationally and publishing a wide variety of digital components including digital student’s books, workbooks, presentation tools, practice apps and assessment as part of an integrated product offering with print components.

The Digital Content Editor is responsible for developing and delivering digital components for international ELT courses, ensuring digital content meets each course’s pedagogical requirements. This role also involves close cross-functional co-operation with the wider publishing team and external suppliers to meet course delivery and quality expectations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop the digital content of a project to ensure that the products are suitable for the market requirements and quality standards are maintained, supporting the publishing team on content and presentation decisions in consultation with the Senior Digital Content Editor.
  • Working within the assigned cross-functional team, take an active role in supporting the Senior Digital Content Editor in the scoping of a project, including creating project specification documentation.
  • Support the Senior Digital Content Editor in the evaluation of scope, packager proposals and providing costs for projects.
  • Support the Senior Digital Content Editor to develop the digital demos, including briefing suppliers and quality checking the content to ensure course requirements are met.
  • Brief, monitor and liaise with third party suppliers and freelance contributors/editors to ensure work is appropriate and of a high quality.
  • Ensure consistent application of metadata on the project, developing tagging briefs.
  • Ensure continuity and maintenance of house style and digital style on each project and its components.
  • Review content at relevant stages to ensure that content meets the brief and is quality assured, liaising with digital authors, and assessing and monitoring their work for quality, suitability and timely delivery.
  • Work within the assigned cross-functional team to ensure all relevant detail is communicated so that the project can be fully and successfully realised.
  • Support newer team members in the use of CAPE and other digital tools and support the implementation of any updates to digital content workflows with associated editorial documentation and guidance.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
