Job Description

Illumina is seeking an Engineer 1 - Development to contribute to expanding access to genomic technology and realizing health equity. This role involves developing and executing engineering verification and robustness testing for various instrument modules, including Optics, mechanical, and thermal components. The successful candidate will also be responsible for creating custom test scripts and setups, presenting detailed test findings to cross-functional design teams, and documenting all results. This position requires supporting system- and subsystem-level integration and testing, including 8D investigations, and contributing as a key technical member within a creative and independent team.
Must Have:
  • Develop and execute engineering verification for Instrument modules (Optics, mechanical, thermal).
  • Develop and execute robustness testing (environmental corner case, shipping/vibration).
  • Develop custom test scripts for CPM and design verification activities.
  • Develop test setups for CPM and life tests.
  • Create and present test findings to cross-functional design teams.
  • Create concise reports documenting test results, requirement verification, limitations, and constraints.
  • Support system- and subsystem-level integration and test, including 8D investigations.
  • Contribute as a key technical member on a team.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Proficiency in programming tools like Matlab and Labview.
  • Experience with real-time test environments such as National Instruments.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Requirements:

The estimated base salary range for the Engineer 1 - Development role based in the United States of America is: $67,000 - $100,600. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
