Job Summary

We are looking for an engineer to work on the API Gateway team at Shipt. This role involves using custom microservices and open source technologies to provide self-service access to routing and configuration for Shipt’s APIs. You will work with technologies like Terraform, Helm, Go microservices, and an API Portal in Typescript to enable easy self-service onboarding and transparent configuration for applications hosted at Shipt.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • At least 6 months of experience writing and deploying production-quality code in a professional environment (internships count!)
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, or JavaScript
  • Solid understanding of REST and experience building RESTful APIs
  • Experience building and deploying apps with modern cloud-based infrastructure, version control, and CI/CD systems (e.g. AWS/GCP/Azure, k8s, GitHub, Jenkins/Drone, Spinnaker, Artifactory)
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Ability to handle on-call duties which could involve working evenings and weekends to respond to production issues

Job Description

Impact

We are looking for an engineer to work on the API Gateway team at Shipt. Using custom microservices and open source technologies, the API Gateway provides self-service access to routing and configuration across multiple distributed data planes for all of Shipt’s APIs. As an engineer on this team you will be working on a range of technologies including core platform configurations using Terraform and Helm, microservices written in Go, and an API Portal written in Typescript. Using these tools, you will be enabling easy self-service onboarding and transparent configuration for all applications hosted at Shipt.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • At least 6 months of experience writing and deploying production-quality code in a professional environment (internships count!)

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. Other compensation includes eligibility for an annual bonus and the potential for restricted stock units based on role.

Pay Range:

Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New York City:

$75,900-$151,700

All other locations:

$63,100-$126,300

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
