Hololabs, a creative technology studio specializing in interactive, immersive experiences and video game development, is seeking a Financial Controller. This role involves working directly with the VP of Operations & President to formalize financial operations and processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep sense of ownership, an analytical mind, and an interest in video games, focusing on financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, payroll, invoicing, and strategic financial support to optimize the studio's financial success.

Must Have

• Prepare, review, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Work with VP of Operations on budgeting, monitor project P&L’s, and update forecasts
• Oversee cash management, ensure adequate liquidity, and manage working capital
• Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes for timely and accurate reporting
• Process and run bi-weekly payroll for full-time employees and contractor invoices
• Prepare and submit monthly invoices to clients and track payments received
• Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to senior management
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, prepare tax filings, and manage external tax advisors
• Ensure adherence to financial regulations and accounting standards
• Oversee accounting software systems for accuracy and efficiency
• Collaborate in financial planning, analysis, and decision-making for strategic initiatives
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost control measures

The role

We are looking for a Financial Controller who will work directly with the VP of Operations & President of the company. You will report to the VP Operations and focus on formalizing financial operations and processes within the company.

You have an interest in video games and immersive entertainment, as well as experience working with software development teams. You enjoy the day-to-day financial operations such as processing invoices and overseeing payroll, and thrive on pursuing optimizations to improve the financial success of the studio.

Core Requirements:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Work with the VP of Operations on the budgeting process, monitor project P&L’s, and update forecasts to ensure alignment with company goals and financial targets.
• Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash management, ensure adequate liquidity for operations, and manage working capital.
• Month-End and Year-End Closing: Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Manage & Run Payroll: Process and run bi-weekly payroll for all full-time employees, as well as invoices for potential contractors.
• Process & Submit Invoices: Work closely with the VP of Operations to prepare and submit monthly invoices to clients and continue to track and payments received.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to compare actual performance against budgets and forecasts; provide insights to senior management on financial performance and trends.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, prepare tax filings, and manage relationships with external tax advisors.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and accounting standards, keeping the company in compliance with relevant laws.
• Financial Systems Management: Oversee the operation of accounting software systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of financial data processing.
• Strategic Planning Support: Collaborate with the VP of Operations & President in financial planning, analysis, and decision-making to support strategic initiatives.
• Cost Management: Identify cost-saving opportunities, implement cost control measures, and assess the financial impact of operational changes.
• Financial Policies & Procedures: Develop and enforce financial policies, ensuring consistent practices across all departments.
• Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate potential threats to the company’s financial health.

Preferred Skills:

For the role of Financial Controller, primarily working at the Hololabs office will be crucial.
