Gameplay Engineer

As a Gameplay Engineer, you will be instrumental in crafting new gameplay experiences for an early-stage incubation project, collaborating closely with Design, Animation, and Audio teams. This role offers significant ownership over large gameplay features and a high degree of participation in design decisions. You will develop, modify, debug, optimize, and test gameplay software using C/C++ and Unreal Engine on PC, contributing to a culture that values autonomy, honesty, and constant improvement.

Must Have

• Experience developing games professionally and shipping AAA titles
• Experience using Unreal Engine 4/5
• Strong C++ skills to code and architect gameplay mechanics and tools
• Strong math skills
• Ability to articulate strengths/weaknesses of existing game designs

What we are looking for:

As a Gameplay Engineer, you will work closely with Design, Animation, and Audio to create new gameplay experiences and take ownership over large gameplay features. You will be working on an early-stage incubation project so a flexible mindset is necessary, and your opportunity to participate in design and have your voice as part of the product will be high.

Requirements

What we will do together:

• Contribute to the design of our gameplay systems
• Develop, modify, and debug gameplay software in script and C/C++
• Deploy, optimize and test gameplay software on PC.
• Collaborate with other internal departments (art, design, audio, QA, etc.)
• Document software and features for internal and external teams
• Participate in the code review process

What you will bring:

• Experience developing games professionally, and shipping AAA titles
• Experience using Unreal Engine 4/5
• A keen analytical mind, with strong problem-solving skills
• Strong C++ skills and the ability to code and architect gameplay mechanics and tools
• Strong math skills
• Well versed in games and the ability to articulate what is strong/weak about the design of existing games
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently
• Creativity in problem-solving and the ability to think outside of the established solutions
• Keen interest in games
