Job Description

We are looking for a new talent to join our GC Analytics team. This position is based in La Défense. It is a hybrid position with remote work.

This is a Catastrophe Modeler position (natural perils and catastrophe in general, including modeling of natural perils and human-made catastrophes).

You will be part of the local Cat Modeling team. In this role, you will be required to understand, manage, and measure our clients' exposures to natural perils using the modeling tools we have available (RMS Moody’s, EQECAT, Verisk, and the G-Cat modeling platform developed by Guy Carpenter). Support for the IT infrastructure necessary for managing these projects is also an important element of the role, as is the care taken in understanding, validating, and documenting results. With the aim of developing such a role, presenting results internally to our brokers and externally to our clients will allow you to be associated with commercial functions. Due to our international nature, interaction with GC Analytics teams in our other offices is also an important element of the role.

We count on you for:

  • Assembly and processing of catastrophe exposures (natural and other perils)
  • Exposure analysis: production of reports on data quality and assumptions used in modeling, analysis of movements in exposures and their impacts on modeling, and mapping of exposures (knowledge of ArcGis is an advantage).
  • Production of reports on probability distributions associated with our clients' exposures (gross and net of ceded reinsurance) using standard modeling tools such as Verisk, RMS Moody’s, and our internal G-Cat tool.
  • Analysis of exposures and associated probability distributions, as well as the impact of applying different reinsurance structures.
  • Support in automating modeling processes, data management, and report production.
  • Support in producing internal and client reports.
  • Contribute to the atmospheric perils working group and Guy Carpenter's understanding of market models. Support in producing post-event analyses for our clients.

What we expect from you:

  • Training in meteorology, especially extratropical cyclones;
  • Computer knowledge in data and database management and in the automation of tasks related to modeling work. The production of concise statistical reports is also necessary.
  • Knowledge of GIS, SQL, and a programming language (Python, R, or VBA) are a plus.
  • Languages: French and English
  • Knowledge of reinsurance terms and conditions is an advantage.
  • Practical experience in using tools such as Verisk, RMS Moody’s would be a plus.

Why join us:

  • We will help you develop your potential through our development opportunities, high-value-added work, and managerial support.
  • We foster a dynamic and inclusive culture where you will work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and impact your colleagues and clients.
  • Our scale allows us to offer you a wide range of career opportunities, as well as benefits aimed at improving your well-being.

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
