Network Architect Lead

Apple is seeking a creative and highly motivated Network Architect Lead to join the Systems and Infrastructure team. This role involves designing and architecting large-scale distributed environments, with a strong focus on network security protocols, routing, switching, and automation. The successful candidate will develop network technology roadmaps, define architecture for Apple's test device farm, and partner with various teams to deliver scalable, high-performance networks. Outstanding problem-solving abilities and comprehensive network theory understanding are essential.

Must Have

• Develop and maintain network technology roadmap and define network strategy
• Define architecture, design, and deployment of networks supporting Apple's test device farm, aligning with business objectives
• Partner with software and hardware teams to deliver scalable, highly available networks for extreme-performance workloads
• Drive technology adoption, vendor engagement, and lifecycle management for networking hardware and software
• Participate in PagerDuty rotation assisting with incidents, help identify root cause, remediation plans, and insure fixes are implemented
• Represent network strategy in business planning and communicate complex concepts to partners and stakeholders

The Systems and Infrastructure team builds and manages world class services and physical infrastructure for software engineers world wide to build, test, and release software.

Description

• Develop and maintain network technology roadmap and define network strategy
• Define architecture, design, and deployment of networks supporting Apple's test device farm, aligning with business objectives
• Partner with software and hardware teams to deliver scalable, highly available networks for extreme-performance workloads
• Drive technology adoption, vendor engagement, and lifecycle management for networking hardware and software
• Participate in PagerDuty rotation assisting with incidents, help identify root cause, remediation plans, and insure fixes are implemented
• Represent network strategy in business planning and communicate complex concepts to partners and stakeholders

Key Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in large-scale data center network architecture and WiFi design
• BS, BA, or BEng degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience
• Deep knowledge of multi-site networking, routing, switching, firewalls, and security frameworks
• Executive-level presentation skills, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to bridge the gap between business and technology
• Experience working cross functionally to resolve complex issues and meet project timelines

Preferred Qualifications

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $203,300 and $305,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
