NewsNation is seeking a Senior Producer for the weekday primetime program 'On Balance'. This role involves devising editorial and booking strategies, coordinating show production, and managing the control room. The Senior Producer will also lead a team of producers, writers, and editors, contribute to scriptwriting, and ensure editorial quality. The position requires strong editorial judgment, staff management, and organizational skills, and is based in New York or Washington, DC.
Must Have

- Help build rundowns for regular programming as well as breaking news and special programming
- Coordinate the team: line producers, associate producers, writers, editors, and other staff
- Write scripts and produce own segments
- Copy edit scripts and content
- Manage editorial relationships and collaboration with other teams
- Help implement training and best practices for show team
- Provide ongoing mentoring and support to members of the show team
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by network management

Job Description
NewsNation seeks a Senior Producer to assist in production of the weekday primetime program On Balance. The senior producer will play a key role helping to devise the editorial and booking strategy and coordinate show production for the program. Candidates should have strong editorial judgement, staff management experience, excel at logistics and planning, and be comfortable managing a control room. The position is based at the network offices in either New York or Washington, DC.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists executive producer and anchor in setting show's editorial direction
- Pitches story ideas and makes guest booking suggestions
- Help build rundowns for regular programming as well as breaking news and special programming
- Coordinates the team: line producers, associate producers, writers, editors, and other staff
- Writes scripts and produces own segments
- Copy edits scripts and content
- Manage editorial relationships and collaboration with other teams
- Helps implement training and best practices for show team
- Provides ongoing mentoring and support to members of the show team
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned by network management
Requirements & Skills:
- Ten or more years of editorial experience in a fast-paced environment for a national news program (broadcast, cable or digital)
- Line producing and segment producing experience a plus
- Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must have strong organizational skills
- Must have excellent writing and copy-editing skills
- Must have considerable line producing experience
- Segment producing and package producing experience are also helpful
- Must be able to handle high pressure and high intensity situations with poise and maturity
- Must be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings, and weekends/holidays
Salary Range: $135,000 - $155,000
