Job Summary
The Operating System Silicon Validation Engineer at Apple will join the SOC Silicon Validation Team. This role involves leveraging knowledge of SOC/IP design and test automation to identify silicon bugs using iOS, macOS, and other validation workloads on various development and prototype Apple hardware. The engineer will develop and execute hardware stress tests, contribute to test automation, track software/hardware failures, and create new stress tests by combining or modifying workloads.

As a member of the SOC Silicon Validation Team you will use your knowledge of SOC/IP design and test automation to find silicon bugs with iOS, macOS and other silicon validation workloads on a large population of development boards, silicon validation boards, and prototype products.
Leverage automation to run varied hardware stress tests on prototype devices while contributing to test automation development that supports the test creation, execution, and result reporting for silicon validation. Follow up on software and hardware failures using the bug tracking system, supporting requests for information or custom experiments to find root-cause. Create new hardware stress tests by combining, modifying or creating new workloads, using your software and chip architecture knowledge.
- A minimum of a BS degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong Computer systems, SoC and CPU architecture knowledge
- Experience in test content creation and test automation infrastructure development for consumer electronic hardware (watch, phone, pads, computers, ARVR)
- OS test experience, iOS/macOS/Android/Windows
- Expertise in at least one scripting language such as Python, Perl, or TCL.
- Desire to develop and execute test plans, analyze test logs/results, and report status
- SoC validation experience
- Operating system, boot loader, kernel and device driver structure
- Debug methodology and troubleshooting development hardware skills.
Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
