Must Have
- Use Electronics and Device Physics knowledge combined with AI/ML background to enhance design and evaluation of circuits.
- Build solutions using AI & machine learning based on semiconductor test and characterization data.
- Work collaboratively within project teams, assist external stakeholders, and coordinate with the team lead.
- Work closely with cross-functional team members and contribute to academic publications and internal innovation initiatives.
- MSc with coursework in Device Physics, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science.
- Solid background in Device Physics, semiconductor electronics and AI.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Proficient in utilizing cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, along with their respective tools for infrastructure management and AI workload deployment.
Good to Have
- Familiarity with C++ or Java.
- Eagerness to further automate PE activities.
- Knowledge or coursework in VLSI Design, IC Design, Embedded Systems.

Become part of a dynamic Product Engineering team that is working on products driving One of the mega trends in the evolution towards highly automated vehicles. NXP offers sensor and processing technology that drives all aspects of the secure connected cars of today and the autonomous cars of tomorrow. Product line In-Vehicle Networking is with CAN, LIN, Flexray and Ethernet solutions, enabling communications within architectures designed for secure and hyper-connected autonomous vehicles.
Your Team
You will be part of our Product Development Team, Product Line In-Vehicle Networking, who is working rigorously to deliver the best products to market on time while ensuring our brand's reputation for leadership in total quality at optimal cost.
As a Product Engineering PhD, you are in a central position (a spider in the web) in the New IC Product Development. You get to work with all the disciplines needed to design an IC and several external teams to prepare it for mass production. There is a lot of room for new ideas and innovations, and you will be supported to have a continuous focus on development, coaching and creating a supportive environment from your team.
Your Responsibilities
- You use your Electronics and Device Physics knowledge combined with AI/ML background to enhance the design and evaluation of circuits in the latest FF CMOS technologies.
- You build solutions using AI & machine learning based on semiconductor test and characterization data, helping to achieve product quality objectives of optimal zero-defect screening and by continually exploring improved screening techniques to keep pace with market demands.
- You work collaboratively within project teams, assist external stakeholders, and coordinate closely with the team lead to deliver results that are timely, high-quality, and cost-effective.
- You work closely with cross-functional team members and contribute to academic publications and internal innovation initiatives.

Your Profile
- MSc with coursework in Device Physics, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, , Computer Science.
- Solid background in Device Physics, semiconductor electronics and AI.
- Proficiency in Python; familiarity with C++ or Java is a plus.
- Proficient in utilizing cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, along with their respective tools for infrastructure management and AI workload deployment.
- Eagerness to further automate PE activities
- Knowledge or coursework in VLSI Design, IC Design, Embedded Systems, is a plus
Duration
- This is a full-time (40-hour per week), 4-year position.
- To qualify for a PhD student assignment, you must remain registered as a student throughout the entire period.
