Job Summary
Electronic Arts is seeking an experienced Quality Designer to join their EA China Studio in Shanghai. This role involves defining quality integration into games using advanced tooling, automation, data insights, and AI solutions. The designer will act as the voice of quality throughout the development lifecycle, designing and implementing test plans, leading shift-left initiatives, and building scalable test automation frameworks. The ideal candidate will have deep testing expertise, strong quality leadership, and a passion for modern QA practices, driving continuous improvement and exploring AI-driven QA solutions.
Must Have
- 5+ years professional experience in testing/quality roles
- 2+ years as a test lead or technical lead
- Proven experience throughout the full QA lifecycle
- Deep understanding of modern test tools, methodologies, and automation
- Strong knowledge of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
- Ability to work with various data types using SQL or similar tools
- Strong technical writing skills for test strategies, reports, and insights
- Hands-on experience with automated or advanced testing methodologies
- Genuine passion and curiosity for AI-powered testing solutions
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in reading and writing English
- Design and implement end-to-end test plans

- Lead shift-left testing initiatives
- Build and enhance scalable test automation frameworks
- Create real-time dashboards (e.g., Power BI)

Report to: QV Director, Development
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Quality Designer to join the EA China Studio. In this role, you will bring deep testing expertise, strong quality leadership, and a passion for modern QA practices. You will help define how quality is built into our games—leveraging advanced tooling, automation, data insights, and AI-enabled solutions.
You will act as the voice of quality throughout the development lifecycle, identifying issues early, shaping testing strategies, and driving continuous improvement. Beyond traditional manual testing, we are looking for someone who is curious, innovative, and motivated to introduce new technologies and approaches that elevate our overall QA capability.
Role Overview
- Design and implement end-to-end test plans for complex game systems, covering functional, performance, compatibility, and live-ops testing.
- Define risk-based testing priorities to optimize coverage, velocity, and efficiency.
- Lead shift-left testing initiatives to detect and prevent defects early in development.
- Use analytics to identify high-risk areas and guide testing focus and investment.
- Build and enhance scalable test automation frameworks to reduce regression cost and improve coverage.
- Create real-time dashboards (e.g., Power BI) to monitor test coverage, defect density, and release readiness.
- Passion for explore and integrate AI-driven QA solutions, driving experimentation, prototyping, and team adoption.
- Evaluate and modernize QA workflows, proposing improvements grounded in measurable impact and ROI.
- Design and present new testing frameworks or tools to leadership, influencing technical direction and adoption.
- Bring industry insights and awareness of evolving QA technologies into daily practices, ensuring our QA capability remains modern and competitive.
- Share testing best practices with peers and partner teams, improving overall quality culture and execution.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in testing or quality-driven roles, including 2+ years as a test lead or technical lead.
- Proven experience throughout the full QA lifecycle—from requirements analysis to post-launch operations.
- Deep understanding of modern test tools, methodologies, and automation practices.
- Strong knowledge of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and effective QA integration points.
- Ability to work with various data types, using SQL or similar tools to support analysis.
- Strong technical writing skills and experience documenting test strategies, reports, and insights.
- Hands-on experience with automated or advanced testing methodologies; experience with Unreal Engine performance testing is a plus.
- Genuine passion and curiosity for AI-powered testing solutions, with the ability to lead team engagement and adoption.
- Strong communication skills with experience conveying complex ideas through reports, analysis, and presentations.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English.
