Job Description

Are you our new chemical engineer or biologist with experience in identifying and assessing environmental contaminants in the aquatic environment?

Do you want to work with environmental contaminants in the aquatic environment? Do you want to identify and assess potential pollution sources in relation to recipients? Are you motivated by identifying and analyzing before an assessment that has significant importance for the aquatic environment? We are looking for employees with extensive experience (10+ years), but also employees with 3-5 years of experience and an interest in developing in this area.

If this sounds like something for you, then this position may be the right opportunity for you. You will become part of Industrial EHS, as our new expert in the assessment of chemical substances in the aquatic environment, where you, together with your colleagues, work to create a sustainable future.

Your new role

Your role will be to identify and assess potential pollution sources in relation to wastewater, surface water, and possibly groundwater. You can perform risk assessments based on the calculation of the spread of problematic substances to streams, lakes, transitional waters, coasts, and groundwater.

This could be in connection with, for example, waste companies, infrastructure projects, recovery, production companies, power-to-X facilities, but also in relation to, for example, groundwater lowering, where there is a risk of mobilization of known contaminations. We emphasize that you have knowledge of wastewater, wastewater management, and the assessment of substances in relation to this.

In these projects, the Water Framework Directive and the Action Order often form part of the framework for the execution of the projects, and we therefore need you to help assess impacts from discharge to recipients as well as discharge of groundwater to recipients in connection with construction projects.

Competencies we would like you to possess:

  • Ability to identify and assess pollution sources in relation to discharge
  • Ability to define substance parameters and set up measurement programs in water
  • Calculation of discharge and spread of problematic substances in the aquatic environment
  • Calculation of mixing zones
  • Knowledge of the behavior of problematic substances in the aquatic environment.

It is an advantage but not a requirement if you possess one or more of the following skills:

  • Calculation of depositions of problematic substances to water bodies (OML)
  • Description of environmental status, obtaining data studies to describe background concentrations and already existing concentrations
  • Ecotoxicological assessments for flora and fauna in fresh and marine recipients
  • Setting up measurement programs in relation to illuminating the state of recipients
  • Performing hydraulic calculations and assessments
  • Preparing authority permits and assessments in relation to the Environmental Assessment Act
  • Knowledge of simple purification methods

Your new team

You will become part of the Environment and Health division, which consists of approximately 200 colleagues spread across the country.

You will be employed in the Industrial EHS department with 20 colleagues who value high professionalism, sparring, and well-being in daily work and with an informal tone. You can be employed in either: Aalborg, Aarhus, Vejle, or Copenhagen.

Together with your colleagues, you will play a crucial role in defining and developing the method for identification, analysis, and assessment of environmental contaminants in the aquatic environment in extension of the new Water Framework Directive and the Action Order. We regularly collaborate with our colleagues in the rest of Environment and Health and also with our colleagues in the rest of Rambøll worldwide.

From the moment you start, we will support you in your personal and professional development, so that you, together with the department, can develop yourself and the business.

We have a high degree of flexibility that can be adapted to your needs.

About you

We have also identified the following qualifications and skills that will contribute to making you a success in the role:

  • You have 3-5 years of experience or 10+ years of experience in one or more of the above areas, either as an authority, utility, consultant, or in industry.
  • You have a heart that beats for the environment and wishes to create green value for industry and society.
  • You get good energy from a professional community and prioritize sparring with your colleagues.
  • You can work independently in an environment where sparring and knowledge sharing are also highly prioritized.
  • You have good collaboration skills and thrive with customer contact.

What we can offer you

  • Flexible work environment
  • Exciting projects
  • A work environment where professionalism and well-being go hand in hand
  • Great inspiration from colleagues, customers and projects
  • A platform where you have many opportunities regarding career paths
  • Good colleagues who care for you
