Job Description

At Pixel (formerly User Research North America), we contribute to creating the best experiences by putting our customers – their behaviours, motivations, and more – at the centre of the design process.

Working hand in hand with production teams, we deliver in-depth user insights to guide decision-making, combining state-of-the-art qualitative and quantitative analysis through a variety of methodologies and data sources.

As a User Researcher within Pixel, you will transform data into meaningful insights that inform our stakeholders and benefit our customers. You will expertly design, plan, and execute a variety of user tests, and will act as the voice of the player by keeping the player experience at the forefront and using it to inform your work. By building and nurturing strong relationships with stakeholders, you’ll ensure that insights are relevant and actionable while also tracking their impact on the project. Additionally, you’ll contribute to Pixel’s ongoing efforts to improve research processes, drive innovation by exploring new methodologies, tools, and techniques, and collaborate with a broad range of experts across Pixel.

what you'll do :

  • Autonomously design, plan, and execute user tests of varying scope and complexity.
  • Contribute to the entire user test cycle, including recruitment, test moderation, note-taking, and data analysis.
  • Lead needs gathering meetings with members of production to translate their needs into research objectives.
  • Advise and challenge stakeholders to clarify and re-center their needs; follow-up with stakeholders on action items.
  • Manage the analysis of multiple data sources (e.g., quantitative, and qualitative) to provide timely and relevant insights to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Produce high quality deliverables that leverage expert data storytelling techniques.
  • Tailor insights, deliverables, and presentations to each audience/stakeholder.
  • Act as a mentor to junior user researchers; collaborate within Pixel and Ubisoft.
  • Be a point person for other user researchers; provide guidance, ensure best practices are followed, and follow-up on test-related tasks.
  • Be an advocate for User Research; carry influence on projects/productions

Qualifications

What you'll bring:

  • An advanced degree (e.g., Master’s) in Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Ergonomics, Social Science, Consumer Research, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in User Research, with an established record of accomplishment of designing and executing a variety of user tests.
  • Expert knowledge of User Research methods and best practices.
  • You play video games and have knowledge of the video game industry.
  • Autonomous, resourceful, adaptable, and able to work in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.
  • Great interpersonal skills and empathy; an effective communicator and active listener.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French.
  • You’re a team player and enjoy collaborating with others.
  • You’re curious, proactive, and think critically.
  • Mastery of the Office suite (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.).
  • Video game industry experience and/or knowledge of production realities and milestones are a bonus.

What we need:

  • Your resume highlighting your education, experience, and skills.
