Post-processing enhances visual quality by applying effects after the scene is rendered. Unity’s Volume system lets you layer and blend effects like grain, tonemapping, white balance, and color correction using profiles and overrides.

Advanced Color Grading

  • Use Lift, Gamma, Gain to tweak shadow/midtone/highlight balance
  • Split Toning for dual-tone color filters (shadows/highlights)
  • Apply Color Filter for scene-wide tints
  • Adjust Temperature & Tint for white balance correction

Filmic Effects

  • Film Grain simulates analog camera noise
  • Panini Projection reduces distortion in wide fields of view
  • Vignette adds cinematic edge darkening
  • Use with Bloom and Color Grading for film look

Exposure & Tonemapping

  • Tonemapping converts HDR lighting into screen-friendly colors
  • Choose from Neutral, ACES, Reinhard, and other tone curves
  • Auto Exposure dynamically adapts brightness
  • Manually override exposure for stylized lighting

Shadow & Highlight Control

  • Use Shadows/Midtones/Highlights for precise tonal range edits
  • Fine-tune shadow and highlight thresholds
  • Balance exposure and detail without color clipping
  • Essential for high-contrast lighting setups

URP/HDRP-Specific Features

  • Panini Projection is URP-only for perspective flattening
  • Screen Space Shadows control softness of real-time shadows
  • Volume override priority and blend weight control stacking behavior
  • Use multiple volumes to simulate environment transitions
