Abnormal Security seeks an Engineering Manager to lead their Customer Journey team.  This role involves overseeing the entire customer experience, from initial demos and onboarding to upselling existing customers.  Responsibilities include team management (recruiting, performance management, coaching), execution planning and delivery of projects, process improvement for code launches and production escalations, collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product, PM, Tech Leads), and defining and tracking operational metrics. The ideal candidate will have experience building and leading full-stack teams in enterprise environments, a proven track record of successful hiring, and a commitment to high standards.

 About The Role Abnormal Security is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Customer Journey team. Our team’s mission is to provide a smooth &amp; fast experience for our customers. The journey covers: <ul><li>First conversation: Through our demo platform, we demonstrate how Abnormal can protect your organization and save you millions of dollars.</li><li>Onboarding: When our customers land on our portal, sign up with Abnormal, go through the set up and start receiving Abnormal protection</li><li>Upsell: Through Abnormal marketplace, existing customers are able to discover, trial &amp; purchase new products to extend their protection. </li></ul>
You'll be the leader of this team, which comes with the responsibility for the end goal and the autonomy to chart the course, drive execution &amp; build the team you need . The ideal candidate is comfortable working with a distributed team, and will have led full stack teams before in enterprise environments. What you will do <ul><li>Recruiting</li> <ul><li>Define the team requirements to reach long term targets</li><li>Create recruiting plans job reqs, rapidly hire qualified candidates</li><li>Drive the closing of candidates</li><li>Create onboarding plans to set up new hires for success</li></ul>
<li>People Management and Growth</li> <ul><li>Create a healthy team environment &amp; culture with low attrition &amp; high team member satisfaction</li><li>Actively manage team performance - understand team member’s strengths and weaknesses, areas of growth, whether they are meeting their specific role expectations, and craft a plan to address under &amp; over performance</li><li>Coach engineers: provide timely, actionable feedback and invest time in career development of team members</li></ul>
<li>Team Execution</li> <ul><li>Create execution plans for the team to deliver on projects and roadmap items</li><li>Ensure execution and attainment of team’s goals through inspection and course correction</li><li>Enforce technical design and project plans, along with PMs and Tech Leads.</li><li>Ensure best practices &amp; organizational processes (eg. Jira processes) are being followed within the team</li></ul>
<li>Operational Excellence</li> <ul><li>Build and improve process and tooling for the teams to handle code launches and production escalations, and support Customer Service and Sales efforts</li><li>Define and track operating metrics for the customer portal (uptime, other SLAs, bug open rate, etc), and establish a plan to continuously improve</li></ul>
<li>Leadership and Collaboration</li> <ul><li>Receive assignments in the form of long term objectives and determine how to meet schedule &amp; goals</li><li>Provides input into feasibility of team strategy proposed by org-wide leadership</li><li>Collaborate with Tech Leads, Architects, Product Managers, and Product Designers on product requirements, technical solutions, and product architecture</li><li>Collaborate with senior and executive leaders to form quarterly OKRs and roadmaps </li></ul>
</ul>
Must Haves <ul><li>2+ years of engineering management experience, leading a team of 6+ engineers building enterprise-level customer-facing products </li><li>4+ years of product development leadership experience (as a lead engineer or engineering manager) working with cross-functional counterparts to build enterprise class customer-facing products</li><li>2+ years leading full stack teams building scalable web applications</li><li>Recruiting magnet - you are able to set up a hiring plan, attract senior engineers, outline the vision of the team and build out a large team</li><li>High standards - sets high standards and expectations for project execution for themselves and the whole team.</li><li>BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems or other related engineering field </li></ul>
Nice to Have <ul><li>Familiarity with our stack (AWS, K8, Python/Django, React, Postgres)</li><li>Previous cybersecurity experience </li></ul>
