Senior Gameplay Engineer

As a Senior Gameplay Engineer at IllFonic, you will be working with Unreal Engine 5 to develop gameplay features and regularly playtest builds. Your responsibilities include debugging issues, optimizing performance, implementing designed features, fine-tuning gameplay, writing technical documentation, merging engine changes, and providing feedback to the team. You are expected to identify and suggest solutions to problems and contribute to improving the company's work environment and creative process.

<p>IllFonic is looking for a Senior Gameplay Engineer to join the team. As a Senior Engineer, you work in large code based engines like Unreal Engine 5. The role requires developing gameplay features for multiple projects and regularly play testing. This position requires mastery with C++, as well as proficiency with Unreal Engine 5. Additionally, your ability to take on any task that is presented to you is hugely beneficial to the company. Our staff is composed of video game, music, and technology veterans redefining how indie and middle-market games are made and marketed. Current and past titles / collaborations include Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Arcadegeddon, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Friday the 13th: The Game, Dead Alliance, Star Citizen, Evolve, Armored Warfare, and Nexuiz.</p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul><li>Debug gameplay/software issues that may arise</li><li>Perform profiling and develop optimization habits</li><li>Implement designed gameplay features</li><li>Fine tuning gameplay elements to bring joy to those who play our games</li><li>Write technical docs on proposed systems</li><li>Implementing or extending engine features</li><li>Merge engine changes</li><li>Take the initiative to identify, prioritize, call-out, and suggest solutions to problems both big and small</li><li>Regularly playtest builds and provide professional feedback to the team on how to improve our games</li><li>Share your thoughts about how to make the company a better place to work, improve the creative process, and help deliver better games</li></ul> <h2>Requirements</h2> <ul><li>5+ years of professional experience with shipped titles developed with Unreal Engine   </li><li>Experience with source control</li><li>Write fluent C++ code</li><li>Strong Vector Math </li><li>Proficiency with JIRA ticketing system</li><li>Proficiency with following a Technical Design Document to implement a system</li><li>Strict use of code names and complete confidentiality of project information for as long as it’s required</li></ul> <h4>Bonus </h4> <ul><li>Experience with multi-threaded programming</li><li>Experience working on multiplayer games</li><li>C#</li><li>Python</li></ul> <h2>Benefits &amp; Compensation</h2> <ul><li>Flexible work location options including remote, hybrid or in office</li><li>100% employee paid medical, dental and vision coverage + 50% coverage for dependents</li><li>401k + 4% company match</li><li>Competitive salary in the independent game developer market, with career progression and continued education encouraged and supported by management at all levels</li><li>Royalty Bonus Plan paid out after each calendar quarter during the year</li><li>Wellness Program that rewards work-life balance</li><li>Unlimited PTO and over 4 weeks of mandated time off of work annually including Summer Break (the week of 4th of July), Winter Break (the last two weeks of the year) and an additional 7 holidays during the year</li><li>Additional non-competitive endeavors allowed</li></ul> <p></p>
