Gameplay Engineer (Senior to Principal)

Gameplay Engineer needed for a remote role at Noodle Cat Games. Must have 5+ years experience, proficiency in C++, and experience with Unreal Engine.  Experience with UE Ability System and UE replication are pluses.

Do you want to work as part of a small engineering team creating a new style of multiplayer action RPG? As a gameplay engineer, you’ll work closely with designers and other engineers to help bring our games to life.

Who You Are
You are a gameplay engineering generalist who isn’t afraid to dive into unfamiliar areas. As a pragmatic and creative problem solver, you’ll find a way to tackle any challenge. You’ve built modular gameplay systems and collaborated with designers to ship gameplay using them. You understand that rapid iteration is key to a great game, and are driven to ‘find the fun’ by creating satisfying gameplay in addition to engineering excellence. 
What You’ll Do
<ul>
<li>Design and implement new modular gameplay systems</li>
<li>Implement and debug online multiplayer gameplay</li>
<li>Empower designers with easy-to-use frameworks, tools, and APIs</li>
<li>Collaborate with the design team on elements of moment to moment gameplay and progression</li>
<li>Propose gameplay changes, features, and improvements (the best proposal is a prototype)</li>
<li>Incorporate feedback and ideas from the team </li>
</ul>
What You Bring Requirements
<ul>
<li>5+ years experience in game engineering roles with shipping experience</li>
<li>A 4 year education or equivalent experience, such as mods and personal projects</li>
<li>Proficiency in C++ with a deep understanding of gameplay systems, mechanics, and tools</li>
<li>Experience with using and extending Unreal Engine</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>The attitude of a lifelong learner and the willingness to wear many hats</li>
<li>Ability to navigate ambiguity and provide optimal solutions for complex problems.</li>
<li>Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently</li>
<li>Excellent debugging and optimization skills</li>
<li>Product sense, pragmatism, and player empathy in making tech decisions</li>
