Steamroller Mauritius is seeking a Senior IT Technician to manage and maintain the company's IT infrastructure. This role involves providing on-site support for hardware and software, troubleshooting issues, ensuring electrical safety, and managing local servers and networks. The technician will also be responsible for implementing security best practices, training staff, and maintaining asset inventory to ensure seamless operations for the creative team.

Steamroller Mauritius is looking for a Senior IT Technician to keep our digital dreams running smoothly. If you’re passionate about solving technological puzzles, ensuring seamless workflows, and supporting a talented team of creatives, this could be the perfect role for you.*This is a full-time, on-site position at our Mauritius studio*<h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Responsibilities:</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">Offer on-site support to end users on hardware (workstation and printing) and standard software (Windows OS, office pack).</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Ensure electrical safety standards are met.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Repair and replace damaged hardware.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Manage local infrastructure (servers and network) when required.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Ensure the security team's best practice applications are being followed.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Provide training and support to end users and staff on computer operation and other issues.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Build and install the new employee's work environment.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Ensure proper meeting room configuration.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Interact with external vendors regarding the repair of hardware.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Drive change and strive to improve IT policies and processes in the studio.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Support for events (training, marketing, etc).</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Maintain the asset inventory.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Ensure follow-up on issues and requests.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Update knowledge base with newly diagnosed problems.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Ensure the integrity of data storage and backup systems</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Maintain the internet connection and firewall and monitor security tools.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Manage the configuration of operating systems</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Respond immediately to security or usability concerns</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Anticipate potential problems and take action to solve them before they impact users when possible</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Test software and review application logs</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Add, remove, and/or update user information such as logins and passwords.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Document the studio’s network configuration.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Assist other support areas to ensure the delivery of the overall SLA meets the business requirement.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Configure security systems, analyze security requirements, and recommend improvements.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Configure and support security tools, such as firewalls and anti-virus software.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Contribute to team efforts and perform additional tasks to support department goals as needed.</li></ul><h2 class="text-2xl md:text-3xl font-bold mt-10 mb-4 border-b pb-2 text-gray-800">Requirements:</h2><ul class="list-disc list-inside my-5 pl-5 space-y-2 text-gray-700"><li class="leading-relaxed">A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is a plus.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">3-5 years of experience with IT helpdesk operations.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">2+ years of experience in computer networks and system maintenance is a plus.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">A+, Linux, or Cisco Certified Network Associate accreditation is advantageous.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience in J2EE and web technology.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Familiarity with Unix / Linux OS.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Excellent written, teaching, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Proficient in database programming and software installation.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Experience working in a research environment that relies extensively on Open Source solutions.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">In-depth knowledge of the TCP / IP protocol suite, security architecture, securing and hardening Operating Systems, Networks, Databases and Applications.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Knowledge of the Incident Response life-cycle.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Thorough understanding of the threat and attack landscape, attack vectors, vulnerabilities and how they are leveraged by malicious actors.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">A strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security systems.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.</li><li class="leading-relaxed">Ability to effectively communicate in English.</li></ul>
