Senior Software Engineer

The Group: The IWPT Data Platform team at Morningstar is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of our Datafeed applications built using Node.js and ASP.NET. These applications are vital for delivering timely and accurate data to our clients, ensuring the smooth operation of their financial systems.

The Role: As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development, reliability, and performance of our Datafeed applications. You will lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to enhance functionality, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and maintenance of Datafeed applications using JavaScript (Node.js) or C# (ASP.NET).

• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Datafeed processing, data accuracy, and application functionality.

• Design and implement enhancements to improve the reliability, performance, and usability of our applications.

• Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to enhance their development skills.

• Document development processes, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to ensure knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development or a related field.

• Advanced proficiency in Node.js or ASP.NET for developing and maintaining Datafeed applications.

• Strong understanding of application development and architecture.

• Extensive knowledge of data processing and data manipulation techniques.

• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases and queries.

• Expertise in troubleshooting and debugging techniques.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Proven ability to work independently and lead a team.

• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science - engineering, or related field.

• Experience developing and supporting Datafeed applications or similar financial systems is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

• Knowledge of financial markets and Datafeeds.

• Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
