The 2.5D Animation Supervisor will lead the production of high-quality 2.5D cinematics, breaking down and estimating animation needs, and ensuring technical specifications and quality control standards are met. This role involves mentoring and motivating team members, providing feedback, and building an animation team. The supervisor will also define and refine an animation pipeline and workflow, document best practices, and benchmark new projects. Great communication skills and collaborative team working is a must for this role. This is initially a freelance position with the potential to transition to full-time.
Must have:
  • 2 years of experience in leading or supervising animation teams.
  • Advanced skills in After Effects and Photoshop.
  • Ability to animate Characters, VFX, UI elements.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of 2D and 2.5D animation pipelines.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to keep pace with management and production.
  • Great presentation, influencing and communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience of Spine is advantageous.

Job Details

As Mooncolony’s 2.5D cinematic animation requirements expand, we're on the hunt for a 2.5D Animation Supervisor to take the helm in this exciting new chapter.

As a pioneer of our 2.5D Animation team, you'll help us shape and grow the animation pipeline, tools and workflow. Your mission? To create and lead the production of high quality 2.5D cinematics spanning a multitude of captivating IPs.

You will help break down and estimate the animation needs on any required project, defining the methodology required. You’ll also be responsible for monitoring the final delivery of animation assets ensuring technical specification and quality control standards are being met.

The 2.5D Animation Supervisor will be comfortable mentoring and motivating others and providing feedback on their work and they will be actively involved in building an animation team. Great communication skills and genuine enthusiasm for collaborative team working is a must for this role.

We’re looking for a start ASAP. This will initially begin in a freelance capacity with the intention, for the right candidate, to transition to a full time position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in the day-to-day creation of high quality, high fidelity, production-ready, animation assets.
  • Lead and manage the animation team, ensuring all work meets style, quality and technical requirements.
  • Provide hands-on technical and artistic feedback to team members while staying on top of one’s own assignment deadlines.
  • Where required, liaise with clients to understand technical requirements and specifications, in order to adapt to external production pipelines.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the studio Art Directors, ensuring illustration files are set up to accommodate animation requirements.
  • In conjunction with Production Management, manage and organize the team's work, defining priorities and deliverables.
  • Provide estimates for live and prospective projects.
  • Define, implement and refine an animation pipeline and workflow that can provide a foundation for multiple projects ensuring efficiency and consistency.
  • Document and communicate pipeline and workflow and best practices to support consistency across the team.
  • Technically and creatively benchmark new projects or animation styles.
  • Develop a positive and energetic team culture.

Key Requirements:

  • 2 years experience in leading or supervising animation teams.
  • Advanced skills in After Effects and Photoshop are a must.
  • Experience of Spine is advantageous.
  • Ability to animate Characters, VFX, UI elements.
  • Ability to problem solve and predict problems with assigned tasks.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of 2D and 2.5D animation pipelines.
  • Ability to quickly identify problems and suggest solutions in reviews and impromptu feedback conversations/sessions.
  • Ability to give precise and timely feedback to artists of different levels, and to gauge the level of support needed according to their skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to keep pace with management and production.
  • Ability to work comfortably under pressure and towards deadlines, juggling multiple tasks.
  • Great presentation, influencing and communication skills are essential working with multiple teams and departments, both internally and externally.
