Activision Blizzard offers several 2025 US Summer Internships in Computer Graphics, including Motion Capture Programming and Rendering. Motion Capture roles involve R&D in performance capture and character animation, pipeline development, and tool support. Rendering internships focus on optimizing rendering architecture for console, PC, and mobile titles, involving work with ray tracing, GPU microcode, and performance analysis. Internships are 12 weeks, starting late-May/mid-June, located in Irvine, CA; Carlsbad, CA; Portland, ME; Playa Vista, CA (Motion Capture in Los Angeles, CA). Relocation services and a living stipend are provided.

Graphics Engineering Internship 

 

Player Profile  

  • Pursuing an associates, bachelors, masters, or PhD and graduating December 2025 – July 2026  

  • Available to participate in a 12-week internship starting in late-May or mid-June 

  • Currently residing in the US or open to relocating oneself to the US 

  • Exhibits learning agility; has the ability to think differently, and/or grasp and apply new skills and concepts 

  • Approaches problems in a clear, well-organized, and solutions-oriented manner 

  • Works well with others and contributes to team tasks 

  • Able to effectively communicate problems, solutions, needs, or priorities 

  • Is engaged, seeks to learn, and is able to manage time effectively 

 

Internship Opportunities 

All internships will be conducted in-person. Hosting managers will determine when and how often interns work in the office Monday-Friday (relocation services and living stipend provided to all interns) 

Potential internship location(s): Irvine, CA; Carlsbad, CA; Portland, ME; Playa Vista, CA 

 

Motion Capture Programming Internship: Join Activision’s Central Technology team and participate in R&D projects related to performance capture and character animation. You will also assist in developing, maintaining, and supporting asset creation pipelines and tools which integrate with different specific studio pipelines.  This internship is located in Los Angeles, CA. 

  • Solid knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming practices or a game engine (Unreal/Unity) 

  • Knowledge of mathematics for 3D graphics, particularly linear algebra 

  • A passion for research and innovation 

  • Experience with computer vision, numerical optimization, and Maya is a plus. 

  • EQt/PyQt/PySide development is a plus 

 

Rendering Internship: Work on console, PC, and mobile titles to solve problems within render architecture, systems programming, GPU microcode, procedural geometry, ray-tracing, and performance analysis and optimization.  

  • Working knowledge of C++ 

  • Experience with at least one game-related domain (graphics, networking, embedded systems) 

  • Multi-threading, optimization (rendering and systems), and computer architecture are a plus 

  • Practical facility in an additional language like Python or Rust

All interns will have the option to opt into relocation services (flights, trains, or car mileage reimbursement). Additionally, all interns will be provided a living stipend to supplement housing, utility, commuting, and miscellaneous costs.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $20.00 - $50.00 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
