The Team and Role

As a 3D CAD Surfacing Specialist, you'll be a pivotal link between industrial design and engineering, translating design vision into tangible reality. Based in Cork, Ireland, you will collaborate with teams across the globe, focusing on our Gaming and Personal Workspace product lines.

Your Contribution

• Master the Craft: Leverage your extensive knowledge and passion for 3D CAD to create exceptional product surfaces. Your mastery of PTC Creo will be essential in building robust, production-ready master-surface files.

• Bridge the Disciplines: Act as a liaison between industrial design and mechanical engineering, ensuring seamless communication and alignment throughout the product development process. Your diplomacy and emotional intelligence will be crucial in facilitating collaboration and navigating design challenges.

• Translate Design Intent: Understand and interpret design sketches and concepts, transforming them into detailed CAD models that capture the essence of the design vision. Your attention to detail and aesthetic sensibility will be paramount in ensuring design fidelity.

• Drive Quality and Innovation: Implement best practices in CAD surfacing, partnering with mechanical engineering and manufacturing to maintain design quality throughout the product life cycle. Stay abreast of the latest technologies and trends, ensuring our products remain at the forefront of innovation.

• Collaborate and Inspire: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, sharing your expertise and insights to elevate the collective output. Your ability to communicate effectively and foster a positive team environment will be key to your success.

Key Qualifications

• Technical Surfacing Expertise: Extensive experience (5+ years) in 3D CAD, with expert-level proficiency in PTC Creo creating Class-A surfaces to exacting standards. Additional knowledge of other CAD software used by our design team, such as SolidWorks, Rhino, Alias, and Fusion 360, is a significant advantage, along with knowledge of complementary 3D CAD techniques such as SubD modelling.

• Design Sensibility: A strong understanding and appreciation of industrial design principles, coupled with a keen eye for detail and aesthetic refinement.

• Engineering Acumen: Familiarity with mechanical engineering concepts and manufacturing processes, enabling you to create designs that are both beautiful and functional.

• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and clearly articulate your ideas (both visually and verbally).

• Passion and Curiosity: A genuine passion for design and a desire to continuously learn and improve your craft.

Preferred Qualifications

• Design or Engineering Degree from an accredited institution

• Experience in the consumer electronics or gaming industries

• Knowledge of advanced high-volume manufacturing processes

• Familiarity with agile development methodologies

• A portfolio showcasing exceptional 3D CAD surfacing skills

• Experience preparing files for CNC, 3D printing, etc.

• Bonus - Computational design experience (Grasshopper experience or equivalent)

• Bonus - Experience working with Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe CC tools
