Overview Of The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Android Engineer to join our dynamic and rapidly growing engineering team. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the Pelago Android app, ensuring our members receive the best possible care and user experience. This role involves working on exciting projects and implementing innovative features.
In this role you will…
- Build and maintain the Pelago Android app, providing our members with a seamless and high-quality experience.
- Work in an agile environment as part of a cross-functional squad, taking full ownership of feature development.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to develop creative solutions to challenges.
- Review and iterate on designs and wireframes, using your expertise to help shape the product.
- Act as the go-to person for Android knowledge, offering guidance and mentorship to team members at all levels.
- Work alongside other engineers on the technical roadmap, continuously improving our codebase and workflows.
- Drive the adoption of AI and machine learning techniques within the app to enhance functionality and user experience.
- Apply engineering best practices, including testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment, to ensure a robust and reliable app.
The background we are looking for...
- At least 5 years of professional Android development experience.
- Strong knowledge of Kotlin (92% of our codebase) and proficiency with Java.
- Up-to-date with the Android ecosystem (Retrofit, Hilt, Jetpack Compose).
- Solid understanding of software design patterns, particularly MVVM and clean architecture.
- Experience integrating REST APIs and working with tools like Postman.
- An eye for design and a focus on providing a great user experience (awareness of mobile UX best practices, accessibility, etc.).
- Expertise in testing on Android (unit testing & UI testing) and automation of these processes.
- Experience maintaining continuous integration/deployment pipelines, preferably on Bitrise.

This position will have an annual salary, plus equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies. The annual base salary for this position is 3,200,000 INR.
