This remote, short-term contract role supports the Cook County Homeowner Relief program, offering one-time assistance to low-income homeowners affected by property tax increases. The specialist will use AidKit’s platform to review applications, validate documents, identify potential fraud, and provide customer support via phone, email, and text, ensuring timely resolution of applicant issues.
Must have:
  • Leverage AidKit’s custom platform to conduct thorough application reviews carefully and quickly, validating correct documents, flagging where corrected documentation is needed or potential fraud to ensure compliance with program and documentation requirements.
  • Participate in program-specific training sessions and RSS team meetings.
  • Collaborate with other RSS and Managers to identify common applicant issues, reduce fraud, and improve AidKit’s overall recipient support process.
  • Respond to customer support tickets via phone, email, and text using AidKit's custom tools, ensuring accurate, friendly, and timely responses.
  • Troubleshoot applicant issues during the application and payment processes to ensure timely resolution.
  • Perform additional customer support & review tasks as needed based on program demands

Overview

We're on a mission to empower nonprofits and governments to deliver aid and public benefits with unprecedented efficiency. We are seeking remote Specialists to join our dynamic team on a short-term contract for a new Homeowner Relief program in Cook County.

About the Role

The RSS will use AidKit’s platform to provide support for the Cook County Homeowner Relief program - a short-term program offering one-time assistance of $1,000 to 15,000+ low-income homeowners in Cook County affected by recent increases in property taxes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage AidKit’s custom platform to conduct thorough application reviews carefully and quickly, validating correct documents, flagging where corrected documentation is needed or potential fraud to ensure compliance with program and documentation requirements.
  • Participate in program-specific training sessions and RSS team meetings.
  • Collaborate with other RSS and Managers to identify common applicant issues, reduce fraud, and improve AidKit’s overall recipient support process.
  • Respond to customer support tickets via phone, email, and text using AidKit's custom tools, ensuring accurate, friendly, and timely responses.

About You

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Self-motivated and effective in managing tasks autonomously in high-volume settings
  • Quick analytical thinking to decide whether documents are valid, need re-submission or fraud is suspected
  • Keen eye for detail and adherence to protocol.
  • Tech-savvy and able to quickly learn AidKit's systems (training provided).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish for effective communication (note: we may hire some specialists who are not bilingual).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Compassionate and sensitive to the nuances of working with vulnerable populations.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in customer service and application review in large scale programs
  • Flexible schedule and ability to adjust to changing circumstances.

Additional Requirements:

  • Reliable computer and stable internet connection.
  • Available to work 25-40 hours per week during the program period

Compensation and Location

This is a fully remote, independent contractor position.

  • Hourly Rate: $30/hour, paid bi-weekly.
  • Hours: 25-40 hours/week (flexible schedule but may require set shifts to ensure coverage). Please note that hours may fluctuate based on program demand, and AidKit cannot guarantee a minimum number of hours.
  • Duration: mid September - December with training scheduled prior. There is potential for the role to continue beyond December based on program needs.
