Position Title: Solution Architect

Designation: Architect

Years of Experience: 10 to 13 years

Role Description

Solution Architect defines solutions architecture for the assigned projects in alignment with the target architecture and strategy. This person ensures that project designs are in alignment with the defined Solutions Architecture using modern technology stack, preferably on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture

  • Create Logical and Conceptual Solution/Architecture for programs and epics.
  • Proficient in designing and architecting new and existing applications on AWS using 6R principles and leveraging tools and services provided by Amazon within the AWS Well Architected Framework.
  • Provides techno functional guidance to the project team and will be engaged in architecture work with the teams. Should Have in depth of technical/functional knowledge in one or more technology and applications/systems with breadth of knowledge of the overall Business technical and functional spectrum.
  • Should be able to guide and mentor solution leads in the team. S/He partners with business analysts, systems analysts and engineers in requirements gathering and reviews.
  • The person should be responsible for analyzing and translating business, information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives.
  • The person should works with Senior/Lead architects, Enterprise architects, and Application and infrastructure teams to produce an optimal, high level, conceptual design for the project.
  • The person has to take his design/architecture to the architecture council along with the senior architects and the final authority to take decision lies with the Architecture council.
  • Make sure this aligns with the overall architecture strategy viewed as a technical expert and critical resource across multiple disciplines Ability to adapt in a variety of business areas and architecture domains and move easily from one to another.
  • The candidate should resolve disputes and make tradeoffs.
  • The candidate should record architecture using use cases and the organization standards toolsets.
  • The person should plan for evolutionary paths (Architecture Runways or PoC if applicable). The candidate should identify risk mitigation strategies associated with the architecture.
  • The candidate should ensure that his/her teams are adhering to the principles and practices committed
  • Bring Industry wide best practices and understand external technology trends. Should be able to relate those trends to the workplace
  • In case of Data focus (in addition to above mentioned points), should have deep understanding of Data architecture, data flows and patterns, data management and modeling practices and tools.
  • The person should Assist in Planning for the project/program
  • The person should Identify and interact with Delivery and necessary Business stakeholders to make sure their needs are being met (Present Solution to the Delivery and Business stakeholders).
  • The person should be a strong proponent of Architecture practice and conducting roadshows (or other Sessions) to demonstrate it.

Process

  • Comply with PGS / BU specific SDLC / Execution practices (Design Review, Code Review, Release Management etc.)
  • Provide Support to Delivery Manager / Delivery Lead for estimation and risk identification. Mitigate technical and Design risks
  • Technical leadership
  • Build Design expertise within BU teams.
  • Mentor and coach development and design teams
  • Lead Community of Design Practices
  • Contribute towards BU maturity in Design and Technical areas.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree (any stream) :

  • Expertise in Java technology and technical architecture.
  • Good experience on Design patterns , Layered Architecture, Web Application Architecture, Service oriented Architecture, UML and Object Oriented Design.
  • Good knowledge of Architecture Patterns
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
  • Good understanding of various tools & artifacts to represent System architecture
  • Experience in designing including considerations for non-functional systems qualities
  • Experience in executing POC and establish reference implementations
  • Exposure to risk Identification and mitigation processes.
  • Good Knowledge of SDLC (like Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, SAFE)

Other

  • Good analytical, solutioning and problem solving skills.
  • Expertise in one or more technologies, technical designing and business domains.
  • Can review estimations, good interpersonal skills, strong interpersonal competencies, strong mentoring and decision making skills are required.
  • Must have good interpersonal and decent customer service skills.
  • Research orientation, Inclination to Technology trends and prior domain expertise would be preferable.
