The Area Mechanic Woodworker is responsible for maintaining the safety and aesthetic appeal of Disney's parks and resorts. This role involves performing scheduled and unplanned work, responding to maintenance requests, and ensuring that all carpentry work meets Disney's high standards. The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in carpentry, including rough and finish carpentry, roofing, cabinetmaking, and furniture repair. The Area Mechanic Woodworker must be proficient in operating carpentry shop and hand tools, installing windows, doors, and trim, and reading blueprints. Excellent communication skills and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are essential. This is a field service position that may require work from elevated platforms and confined spaces.
Must have:

The Area Mech Woodworker is more than just a modern day carpenter. The Area Mech Woodworker is responsible for keeping our parks and resorts safe and looking perfect so Guests get the full enjoyment of our Parks and Resorts. Our carpentry shops are first-class and have the tools for efficiency and productivity. Safety is also front-and-center. The Area Mech Woodworker will perform scheduled and planned work, along with responding to immediate needs. This is a field service position that may include work from elevated platforms and confined spaces throughout the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

Starting Pay Rate for this position is $23.76/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled and planned work
  • Respond promptly to trouble tickets at a resort, park or attraction
  • Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required
  • Must be able to wear a respirator

Basic Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in carpentry
  • Experience in all facets of the carpenter and cabinet maker trade including rough and finish carpentry, roofing, cabinetmaking and furniture repair
  • Ability to operate carpentry shop and hand tools or equipment associated woodworking
  • Experience installing windows, doors, interior and exterior trim, and erecting structures from ground level
  • Experience reading and interpreting plumbing blueprints, material takeoffs, prints for permit submittals and construction prints
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices
