What you’d be doing in this role

As an Art Director for Canva’s Design School, you’ll elevate the craft and raise the bar for our filmed and in-product educational content. From directing on-site shoots to overseeing video production workflows, you’ll ensure that all learning materials are visually engaging, aspirational, and aligned with Canva’s brand identity.

This role involves working closely with videographers, editors, and designers to deliver certification courses and other learning assets. You’ll conceptualize, execute, and refine video content that simplifies complex ideas and drives learner engagement.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Lead shoot days for Design School certification content, directing talent and guiding production teams on framing, lighting, and set design to achieve high-quality results.
  • Develop creative approaches to showcasing Canva’s features and step-by-step tutorials in a way that is engaging, clear, and aspirational.
  • Partner with designers, videographers, and editors to create cohesive and professional content.
  • Review video and screen-recorded content, providing constructive feedback to refine outputs and ensure brand alignment.
  • Strategize and oversee production processes, ensuring efficiency and alignment with deadlines and project goals.
  • Work with multiple teams across Canva to align on creative direction and project objectives.
  • Track the performance of content, integrating insights to inform and improve future projects.

You're probably a match if

  • You have 4+ years as an Art Director with a proven track record of delivering high-quality filmed content, including live-action and tutorial-style videos.
  • You have proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva, with a deep understanding of filming and production workflows.
  • you have strong ideation skills, balancing conceptual thinking with hands-on execution.
  • You have excellent verbal and visual communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into engaging visual stories.
  • You’re a collaborative and resilient problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and values feedback as a growth tool.
  • You’re positive, empathetic teammate with a knack for cross-functional collaboration and creative leadership.
