Job Description

The Asset Network Integration Technician will join the Fluence Digital EMEA team to integrate energy storage and renewable energy assets into the Fluence APM (Asset Performance Management) SaaS platforms. This role focuses on network and data connectivity, requiring knowledge of computer networking, software development, software development tools, and industrial protocols. Responsibilities include onboarding renewable energy sites into the Fluence APM SaaS platform through custom connectors and integrations, collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure smooth data integration, implementing and managing secure data connections, integrating with third-party APIs, databases, and industrial SCADA systems, parsing data, and reporting progress. The role also involves developing and maintaining Python scripts, analyzing data streams, and working with relational databases.

This opportunity is for an Asset Network Integration Technician to join the Fluence Digital EMEA team to integrate energy storage and renewable energy assets into the Fluence APM (Asset Performance Management) SaaS platforms. The role will focus on network connectivity and data connectivity, the candidate will be required to have knowledge and experience of computer networking, software development, software development tools and industrial protocols


Fluence Digital customers use the Fluence Digital Asset Performance Management (APM) platform to monitor their renewable assets (BESS, Wind, Solar and Hydro). This enables customers to get the best performance from their assets ensuring minimal downtime and maximum power generation.


This role will report to the EMEA Operations Senior Manager for Digital, the day-to-day activities will include the following:


- Onboard renewable energy sites into the Fluence APM SaaS platform by developing custom connectors and integrations.


- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand technical requirements and ensure smooth data integration.


- Implement and manage secure data connections using VPNs and other secure communication protocols.


- Use of VPNs, Firewalls, Routing, Tunnelling etc


- Data connection of the asset to the Fluence Servers.


- Integrate with third party APIs (REST, SOAP etc), DBs, and industrial SCADA systems (DNP3, MODBUS, IEC104, OPC-UA, OPC DA-XML, OPC-DA etc)


- Parsing of received data and injection to Fluence DBs


- Reporting to the EMEA digital team on progress and ETAs.


- Develop and maintain Python scripts and tools for data ingestion and transformation.


- Analyse, validate, and troubleshoot incoming data streams from diverse sources.


- Work with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) for storing and querying operational data.


- Utilize Git for version control and Bash scripting for automation and system operations


To be successful in this role, you will need:


- Problem solving and root cause analysis.


- Fault and analysis capture and reporting with tools like Word or PowerPoint


- Supporting the other technical functions in the team


- Data import, may require some manipulation


- Configuration changes to add user, change access, Asset performance analysis


- Document integration processes and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.


- Fluent in English and Spanish for technical conversations.


- Occasional travel to Fluence offices for team meetings, training etc (e.g. London, Zurich)
