Associate Editor

Sunrise Animation Studios is pleased to announce the production of DAVID, a major animated feature film that tells the story about one of the most captivating characters in all of human history. 

We are seeking a talented and experienced Associate Editor to join our animation feature film production team. The role is to translate rough concepts into edited sequences per the Lead's guidance and Director's vision by using the script, notes, and/or pitch to best depict and enhance a scene in storyboards, previz, layout, animation and lighting.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate solid artistic skills in cutting storyboards and layout together with dialogue, sound effects and music to best craft a scene, often under tight schedules.
• Utilize solid temp sound mixing abilities in leveling out dialogue, sfx, and music for screenings and rough edits.
• Possess a strong understanding of the technical production pipeline, including areas outside of immediate responsibility.
• Able to take direction, interpret and execute notes.
• Participate in the training, mentorship and development of the Assistants; partners with the Manager to provide feedback to the Assistants 
• Remain flexible and adjust to the shifting demands of production.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years editorial experience in feature animated films and/or animated episodic projects
• Minimum 5 years experience in a film editorial capacity 
• Extensive experience in associate editing for animated feature films or similar projects.
• Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (Avid and Premiere).
• Previous experience as an associate editor in animation or film production.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, creative and collaborative environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in film editing, animation, or a related field is preferred.
