About the Role
Springer Nature is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to join the Research Cross-Journal Editorial Team.
This exciting position involves being part of a team of editors that will work closely — and flexibly — with the existing Nature Research Journals, such as Nature Geoscience and Nature Climate Change. The ideal candidate would be a critical thinker with a deep understanding of their subject, curiosity and a desire to learn about areas beyond it, and who can think on their feet.
This role can be in our New York, Jersey City, Shanghai, or Beijing offices on a hybrid working model.
Role responsibilities:
Supporting editorial processes relating to manuscript assessment and the peer-review process
Commissioning, editing and writing content for journals
Working closely with Chief Editors and journal teams, while reporting to the Head of the Research Cross-Journal Team, on other aspects of journal content and strategy, as appropriate
Experience, Skills, & Qualifications:
Research experience to PhD level (or equivalent) in Earth and/or climate science. Expertise relating to biogeochemistry, land surface interactions and feedbacks, hydrology, agriculture, and forestry are especially welcome.
A keen interest in research both within and beyond your specialty.
The ability to absorb and understand new areas of research.
Strong literary skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable:
Postdoctoral experience a plus.
Previous editorial experience a plus
Expertise in any other related disciplines a plus

US Annualized Base Salary Range: Associate Editor: $80,000 | Senior Editor: $95,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
