The opportunity
As a Waveguide Materials Engineer within our Waveguide Materials R&D group, you will evaluate current and future inorganic and organic waveguide substrates, contributing to advancements in materials development.
What you’ll do
- Characterize inorganic and organic waveguide substrates, including glass, crystal, and polymer, using advanced materials analysis techniques.
- Analyze materials characterization data and summarize findings for documentation and presentations.
- Diagnose issues with materials and metrology equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test data.
- Own characterization tools by troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Communicate insights, collaborate with colleagues, and present data to cross-functional engineering teams.
The experience you bring
- 1–2 years of experience with metrology techniques (e.g., ellipsometry, interferometry, AFM, SEM) – experience preferred but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related physical science/engineering field.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
It’s exciting if you also have
- Experience in laboratory or semiconductor-related fields
- Knowledge of optics or a foundational background in the field
- Familiarity with JMP, Python, or MATLAB
